I needed something to keep beside me when switching between guitars that have different electronics in them. I use 3 main guitars with very different set ups. A Seagull S6 with an LR Baggs M1 Active, A Baden D style with Fishman Aura Elipse, and A Sunlite GWJ 2600 Jumbo Cutaway with their own peizo system with EQ and built in chorus.

Each of these guitars has it's own personality and needs different tweaks. The Para Acoustic warms them all up quite nicely. It did all I wanted it to and more. I also tried it for vocals into a Roland Mobile Cube for street performing and it smoothed out the signal and warmed it up beautifully. It enables the little Mobile Cube to handle more volume without breaking up. I love the Para and I am buying another one so I can use it for vocals and guitar throught the Mobile Cube on the street. This will give me a great street rig that all fits in a laptop bag.

The L.R. Baggs Para Acoustic D.I. is the goods.

At first, i didn't want to spend $160 on the PAra Acoustic and was aiming to buy the APhex Acoustic Xicter that ran under $100. I did my research and found many professionals highly recommended the PAra Acoustic. I took a calculated risk and bought it and am very pleased with my decision.
The Para Acoustic has eight Knobs to control bass, tremble, presence and others this can look complicated but it comes with a simple instruction manual that shows you how to effectively tweak it.
The members in my band love the new rich sound from my acoustic which before tinny and inaudible.
Definate Buy for Acoustic players and other instruments like the violin which need a active DI Box to control and boost their sound.

I've been using one of these for a few years now and I love it. I play a Seagull acoustic that I had a piezo pickup installed in. The parametric EQ on the LR Baggs box lets me dial out the harsh tinny sounds that are over emphasized by the pickup, and dial in the warmer tones to more closely match the un-amplified sound of my guitar. I use this as a direct box live, for recording, and as an EQ when I run my guitar into an old tube amp I like to use. It works great for me in every case, and I highly recommend it over other Acoustic DIs I've tried.

I use this with an L.R. Baggs Pickup and a cheap violin and it sounds like a million bucks! Whenever I gig the sound guys are always happy to use this for me instead of their standard gear. Also, it must use very little power because I've had it over a year, using it approximately 6 hours a week, and have only had to replace the battery once!

I own a Taylor 815-CE with a Fishman saddle pick up in it and augmented by this LR Baggs D.I. it is PERFECT! If you are looking for a D.I. to warm up your sound, give it more body and/or give you the ability to notch out any nasty amplification frequencies your pickup/guitar produce...this is the D.I. to get. I have sound guys all around the country tell me that my guitar is maybe the best sounding acoustic guitar they've ever mixed. I contribute a lot of that too this D.I. in my set up.

This is an essential piece of equipment for the acoustic electric guitarist. It enables you to fine tune your sound, eliminate feedback, taylor your sound to the venue in which you are playing in multiple dimensions. It will make your sound come alive even if the PA system isn't that great. It enables you to attain the richest sound possible out of what ever pickup and guitar you are using. I don't use this as a vocal pre-amp as I think something like the Presonus pre tube is far superior for vocal applications. You will be excited about how good your sound is with this pre-amp. One note; this requires some uninterrupted time and listening to dial it in but well worth the end result for your efforts and once it's dialed in you should only need to make minor adjustments thereafter. Buy it!

I use this guy for a slightly out-of-th-ordinary purpose. As opposed to using an acoustic guitar or bass with this I use a 36 string lever harp. This box does a good job of transmitting the sound and the EQ definitely helps the sound (there is a noticeable bump in volume where the pickup on my harp is connected, I can't EQ it out, but I can get it to sound more even). The sound is very warm and captures the harp sound nicely, and the FX loop input works very well for those instances when the acoustics of the room are bad and I want to put extra reverb into the signal. If you have access to a PA system, the XLR out works very well and give sound engineers a good signal on the mixer as well as provide you with Phantom Power.

My only real gripe with this box is that I cannot use a standalone external power source with it. It takes either a 9V batt. or 48V Phantom power. There is no real way to use a power brick to power this box. For most people this will probably not be too much of an issue, however one of my main "gigs" is playing in a church where there is no sound engineer and the head music minister will not let anyone touch the sound board (it's literally locked in a cupboard). As such I cannot plug into the PA system, which means no phantom power. In this case I wind up patching into the system via a guitar amp that they have upstairs, and run the DI on a 9V batt. To be fair, I have been using it for 1/2 a year (there abouts)every Sunday and the batt. is still alive after somewhere between 24 and 30 hours of non-continuous battery powered operation, but it would have been nice to just be able to plug this into a power brick and be done with it.

Great product, one (minor) oversight. If I could I would give it 4.5
