Converts 2 AA Maglite to bright flood light,
By A reader (Branchburg, NJ USA) - See all my reviews Candle mode still works but not as well as with the standard bulb. I gave the LED kit 3 stars because of the limited range of the light; on the other hand, the light produced is bright and is supposed to make batteries last much longer. I also like the blue-white color that the LED produces. Happily, it appears that it easy to convert back to the original setup if I have to do so. However, for indoor use or limited-range outdoor use, the LED setup is fine.

More of a Side-grade than Upgrade,
By
This review is from: Nite Ize LRB-07 3-LED Bulb Upgrade/Replacement for AA Mini Flashlight (Tools & Home Improvement)
The important thing to realize here is that this product changes your flashlight a lot -- in ways that some people will like, and other people obviously won't like. It no longer focuses to a bright spot, so you can't light up objects at much distance. It isn't nearly as bright either. On the good side, it's still bright enough to find your way around at night, and the quality of the light -- the whiteness and smoothness of the spot -- is much improved. A set of batteries will keep it running much longer, and the LEDs should never break or burn out. If those are the qualities you are looking for, then I say go for it!
On the other hand. . . If you want a small flashlight that's really bright, that focuses well and lights things up at at a distance (but with less battery life), then you might consider an actual Mini Maglite LED flashlight. It's a completely different beast, and I think they both have their uses.
