5.0 out of 5 stars oddly amazing. great for hiking, November 3, 2006

I disagree with the impression that it is wasted money. Freeze dried food is extremely lightweight and does not spoil easily. It is perfect for hiking and camping (there are brands specific to that end) or taking a trip into space where weight is critical to getting into orbit.

I have bought these ice cream sandwiches for dinner parties and just for the fun of it. The strawberries taste amazingly good with a rich taste. the ice cream sandwiches taste like...ice cream sandwiches...except they aren't cold and they are like eating foam. the best part is they suck all the moisture out of your mouth. Its a bit like pop rocks. You find yourself with your eyes popping wide as you realize your mouth is really dry but my oh my! The TASTE!

Give it a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars I used to eat this when I was a kid, December 29, 2006
This review is from: Neopolitan Ice Cream CS12 (Misc.)
I know it's expensive (especially price to weight ratio), but it actually costs less now than it did 20 years ago. I remember paying over $3 for it back then. And it still costs about $3 (I wish I could still buy houses and cars at '80s prices).

For me, it's a memorable desert I loved (and still do). There's nothing else like it. Oh, and if I'm not mistaken, I think that is the same package design from way back in the day. I haven't seen this brand in ages, so I'm not sure. The only place that has it is a science museum and they carry some other brand now. Is that the Challenger, btw?

That's it. I'm ordering some.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wrong weight, April 14, 2011

According to the item description, this product has a weight of 3.2 oz, which is the only reason why I bought this for $6.30. When I received the freeze-dried ice cream, it turns out to be a regular bag with a weight of .75 ounces. I basically paid $6.30 for .75 ounces of freeze-dried ice cream, which I can get at Walmart for $1.88. Amazon, PLEASE do not LIE about the product weight.
