You do need to tighten-up the joins once in awhile otherwise the lamp will start to fall. Works just fine - the 5 diopter is a big plus, most are just 3 diopter. Solid lamp. Put it in use for my scroll saw.

This is exactly what I needed for very fine hand work with my hobbies. Came quickly and was in perfect condition - new.

Truly nice lamp. Looked extensively at multiple products and vendors and this was the best in quality and value.

I agree with all of the other reviewers. You do have to occasionally tighten the nut that holds the arm, but still this is a fantastic lens with a terrific lamp at a great price. There is no distortion at all in the lens that I have been able to detect, and the manufacturing quality is very high.

I would add, for sake of comparison, that in addition to this lamp I ordered the Professional Fluorescent Magnifier Lamp - Extra-Large 7.5 x 6.25" Lens - 5 Diopter lamp sold by Jack's Toolshed. Since I have read no other review from someone who has purchased both of them and has compared them, let me say that this lamp is INCOMPARABLY better. That lamp is more cheaply made, has a lens that produces horrible distortion (as many reviewers have noted), and costs quite a bit more. I purchased both lamps because I wanted the largest lens possible for use when reading, and hoped that the larger product would be helpful, but discovered that the distortion made the other lamp useless.

Overall, this is an excellent product, even if you have to occasionally tighten the nut.

I use this same mag/lamp at work and needed one at home. It was priced right and I bought it. The 5 Diop. lens is a must for small parts and detail work.
Works great, no issues so far.

The first thing that comes to mind when writing this is, "This is a really well built piece of equipment". I graduated from a smaller desktop 3/5 diopter magnifier because I always found myself peering through the tiny 5 diopter bubble. This magnifier is well engineered and manufactured. The incorporated power outlet is a big plus. The glass lid fits well and has a sturdy hinge. The lighting is excellent and the size and quality of the magnifying glass is superb. If there were more rating stars to give, it would get them all. Get yourself a PanaVise and decent solder station and have some fun!

I,ve had a magnifying lamp for years and wanted one for a friend. I shopped everywhere and couldn't find a better deal.It shipped fast and is a quality product.I use mine in a shop so keeping the lens clean is a problem.Great for reading fine print schematics or print. Small jobs are easier when you can see what you are doing. This one has a cover over the lens which should help. Worth the money. I would buy another one without question.

Great light, nice large magnifier also gives off a lot off light and does not get hot. Also the plug at the base comes in handy.

Got this for my dad for Christmas and he loves it! He uses it to work on pieces for his model train or his restored 1927 Model A. He had one for years which finally wore out similar in style to this one. Dad says the magnifying lens has a bigger area and is clearer than his old one and since it moves like his old one he has no complaints. That alone is high praise since he usually has an opinion on how something can be improved.

The arm is long and flexible for positioning. Takes some getting used to as far as what distance to place it between the object and your eyes. The light is great. Nice looking in black. Best price I could find for a quality lamp.
