More About the Author

Nine years ago the founder of LUXE City Guides, Grant Thatcher, was at a party in Singapore. He was told that if he were ever to go to Bangkok, then he must be sure to take the several A4 pages that he was now being handed, as they contained the best insider knowledge on the city. Everybody, it seemed, loved this saucy list.

Grant looked at the list. It seemed familiar. It looked exactly like the list he had written for friends before he left Bangkok. Shut up, and get out of here! Dong! It's true. The rest, as they say, is history.

I've been buying Luxe guides since the beginning and have used most of their Asian titles. I was really glad to hear that they'd come out with one for Milan when I had to go late last year. I've always known them to be on the spot about the best restaurants and shops and I wasn't disappointed. They keep it short and simple - no touristy places (unless it's worth it, which they'd tell you) and after having read the few guides that are on the market for this city, this one certainly tops the list. Love their honesty.

These guides are for people who don't believe in guides.

Focused, concise and compact, these guides are excellent if you're spending only a few days in town for business or quick holiday. Have used the Shanghai, Beijing, and Sydney guides, all had current/accurate info. This was the first European Luxe Guide I'd used, but they've managed to maintain their high standards across continents. The writing can be quite funny, and the pamphlet-format fits in a suit-jacket pocket. Probably the best indicator of its value: Colleagues in Milan found it so useful, I gave them my copy. Highly recommended.

I love LUXE Milan! I am one of the LUXE City Guides fans. I found that LUXE City Guides cut to the jugular, listing hundreds of destinations in the distinctive, hyper-opinionated LUXE style of short, sharp and to-the-point reviews. Designed to fit in a purse or pocket without ever making you look like a tourist, they are small in size but long in savvy and sass. It is really smart stuff for busy people! ;)
