4.0 out of 5 stars Great performance, yet too slow especially in the more challenging passages, January 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: La Campanella (MP3 Download)
A stunning performance, well balanced throughout, yet slow especially in the more challenging passages. Each time I am listening to this performance I am subconsciously benchmarking it with Kissin's encore performance in the City Radio Hall, which unfortunately is not available on CD. Kissin's performance is smoother and builds up gradually and steadily to the culminating points. Also, Kissin's interpretation sounds slightly more cheerful, maybe partially misplaced for Campanella, yet it renders the piece more enjoyable to listen to.
