Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Many modern homes have up-to-date clocks or mini weather stations that depend on radio-transmitted data to stay calibrated and current. The La Crosse TX6U works outdoors by sensing temperature and transmitting that information to an indoor station. It can transmit to a base up to 80 feet away. The TX6U can be added to augment information coming to La Crosse units already in operation. Remove batteries from base units first and activate sensors; then replace batteries in base units and press no buttons until a display appears. Multiple sensors can be assigned a number so that it will be clear which information from which sensor is displayed.

The TX6U operates on two AA batteries. Its housing is made of durable, neutral-tone plastic. For options in wall mounting, two screws and screw anchors and a strong adhesive tape are included. The TX6U measures 5-1/2 by 1-1/2 by 1 inch. La Crosse provides a one-year limited warranty on its sensors. Each sensor comes with a detailed instruction sheet. --Garland Withers

Product Description

Weather Stations sold on amazon come with its own sensor you do not need to buy a sensor. If you need an extra sensor then you would want to make the purchase.

Not designed for accuracy March 18, 2005
The specs on this unit are +/- 2 degrees "under normal conditions". That probably means "at room temperature." At winter temps, freezing and below, this unit is over 5 degrees off. La Crosse more or less admits to this on their web site. The saddest thing is that the LaCrosse base stations display outside temperatures to 1/10th of a degree - for a sensor that is +/- 2 degrees at best and generally not even that close.

High failure rate August 28, 2005
Very disappointed with the lifespan of the LaCrosse remote sensor. The original I received with the weather station failed after four months, and a replacement I purchased lasted about as long. I like my LaCrosse weather station a lot and have had no problems with the main unit, but I don't want to purchase a new remote unit three or four times a year.

Unreliable, Short-Lived November 3, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase
This was the 3rd of three remotes I've had linked to a La Crosse clock/thermometer unit. The first fell and broke, but the second and third units simply failed. While they worked, the range on the units was very poor. I had difficulty at times in getting a signal within 8 ft. through a window in line of sight with the remote. As nice as it is to have a remote temperature sensor, La Crosse doesn't seem to be able to provide reliable products for that purpose.

I'm happy
This temperature sensor works well although its range is a little less that the original sensor. I used a bit of Velcro to adhere it to the wood between two windows. Read more
