My unit had been working fine until it suddenly failed, and I'd already tried new batteries anyways.

The La Crosse weather station works as advertised. The only thing I didn't like was the design of the plastic anchors for wall mounting the sensors; I replaced them with some standard anchors.

A nice undocumented feature of the system is that you can read the same sensors on two different displays. By purchasing two systems, I could mount one sensor outside and one in my wine cellar and then get readouts for both sensors on both displays, which I keep in two separate areas of the house.

No reflection on Amazon - they have always been great! This unit has never worked out of the box. The box comes with several pieces of paper telling you to contact La Crosse if you have problems and not to return it to the place you bought it from. Because of the poor customer support from LaCrosse - I missed the return window to Amazon and am now stuck with this non functional unit. La Crosse initially sent me a long trouble shooting email essentially telling me to ensure I had new batteries in it - fairly insulting. I followed the entire procedure just to satisfy them and now they will not respond. A waste of money. Buyer beware! My recommendation - If you buy a La Crosse product and it doesn't work - immediately send it back - DO NOT try to work with La Crosse they do not support.

It tells the temperature just fine. However, the longest I've gotten from a fresh set of alkalines is 3 weeks. Eats batteries like it's going out of style. As such, it's not dependable.

**Follow up! I contacted the manufacturer and told of the battery situation. They replaced the transmitter free of charge and it has been stable and no longer a battery devourer. Make it 4 stars now.

I really liked this unit at first. It's small and isn't cluttered with things like annoying pictures of clouds and snowmen, just showing me the time, temperature, and humidity like I want. It comes with a rain cover, which is nice to have included, although I used mine to monitor another part of my house. (Making the remote sensor failure even more annoying, since the unit hasn't been exposed to the elements at all.)

I contacted La Crosse support and described the problem in detail. Well, it turns out that part of their troubleshooting is that your batteries should have an expiration date at least SEVEN YEARS away. That really should be stated in the specifications. My unit had been working fine until it suddenly failed, and I'd already tried new batteries anyways. (But only with a 5-year shelf life, oh no!) I'd already gone through their troubleshooting steps multiple times before contacting them, and included all that information in my email. The response I got a few days later was just a generic email telling me to try the steps I'd already repeatedly tried. (Well, plus their request that I unnecessarily spend money on batteries.)

Since the unit was only 3 weeks old, at this point I decided to return it to Amazon and buy another brand. I really liked the unit, but trying to get tech support was an unreasonable hassle, as is their unstated "policy" that you need to buy batteries that expire at least 7 years in the future if you have any sort of problem with the unit.

Edit: The La Crosse info also said that batteries are okay if they test to at least 1.48V. Finally found my multimeter, and the four batteries I tried all read 1.54 - 1.56V... Yup, not the batteries. Unfortunately, most people don't have access to a digital voltmeter. (And I'm sure I'd still have gotten the generic reply even if I included that information, since I was otherwise quite detailed.)

This product does what it says it should, but we were disappointed that it didn't read indoor humidity. Simple to program and install, and is accurate - matches the nearest weather station.

This product is great. It performs as advertised. It has been running for a very long time with no need to change the batteries. Directions were great. I believe that LaCrosse is the class of this segement of the market

I live in a house with a crawl space under the first floor. Due to the vents installed by the builder (they are required by building code)that space and the floor were cold in the winter. I installed rigid foam removable inserts in each vent to block cold air from entering the space, and they worked great. However, my concern was high humidity in the crawl space - that's what the vents are for. To solve this potential problem I placed the La Crosse Weather Station sensor in the crawl space, and now I know what the temperature and, more importantly, the humidity is in that space. Works great!
