I have a weather station from LaCrosse Technology that has worked great for the one year that I've owned it. I recently moved to a new house, and the cable guy accidentally stepped on the wind gauge that was sitting on my floor until I had the time to install it. Sure enough, it was damaged with no hope of being repaired. To my surprise, I found the same model right here, so I ordered it as a replacement. I installed it, and it worked great. But 2 weeks later, my weather station stopped getting signals from it. It is the exact same model as my old wind gauge, so it should have worked just fine. But, I was wrong. So, I sent it back to Amazon, and I received yet another defective one. After that I just got my money back from Amazon. I would not recommend that anyone purchase this item, because it probably won't work properly. I suggest that you just buy a whole new weather station instead of ordering this as a replacement. Well, I hope that helps somebody. Thank you for reading my review!

I've had a LaCrosse professional weather center for a year and everything works on it except the wind speed sensor. I replaced the wind sensor in October due to damage from a hail storm thinking that would solve the problem. NOT! I sent the entire unit back to LaCrosse and they shipped it back to me with a note stating the biggest problem with these units are bad batteries. I have changed batteries countless times but the unit still does not register proper wind speed. The tech people @ LaCrosse have not been cooperative in repairing my sensor.

I could not get my Lacrosse Weather Station to be reliable. It needs rebooting, it loses connections, the rain gauge doesn't work, the wind sensor stops working, it stops reporting outdoor temperature, etc. etc. etc. Whenever the weather gets demanding this weather station decides to stop working. Trying to get it to work again by resetting (losing all historic data in the process) is a nightmare...sometimes it works, sometimes not. A friend, also interested in amateur weather watching, has the same problems with LaCrosse. If you really want to monitor your local weather, you can't use LaCrosse systems.

I tried their technical support, forget it, their support is worse than their products. Support emailed me a three page standard letter....blamed problems on wireless routers (who doesn't have one?), keyless starting systems on our cars (OMG), television antennas, satellite dishes, batteries, intrusion alarms.....everything but their product was the problem. The only thing they didn't blame was the phases of the moon.

FORGET LACROSSE WEATHER STATIONS!! THEY ARE BUILT LIKE CHEAP TOYS. THEY ARE TROUBLE PRONE AND UNRELIABLE.

In my frustration I bought a DAVIS weather station, it's been working for 18 months without one problem....yes, even with my wireless router and satellite dish! The Davis takes a licking and just keeps on ticking. Buy Davis and get your monies worth, forget LaCrosse.

Installed the La Crosse Tech. system in Jan-1010, after the first rain the wind sensor TX23U failed due to water intrusion. La Crosse customer service does not respond to calls & other sources all have back-orders for replacements untill 04-15-10. This indicates that not only my problem exists but many others. I rate La Crosse customer service with a 0 and their product.

The first one lasted just over a year. I hope the replacement last longer. There won't be a third one.

We enjoyed the weather station for over a year when inclement weather ruined the wind sensor. We were delighted to be able to replace it easily and inexpensively. We are quite aware of inaccuracy of the absolute numbers but can interpolate (guess) from the readings the relative strength of wind and can be assured of direction. It is a pleasant breakfast accompaniment despite its limits.

Within 10 months on installing the unit, the wind sensor failed twice. First, after 7 months, the unit failed to send data to the base station (wind direction was ok, but wind speed failed); Lacrosse tech support is brutal. As others have said, they tend to think the problem is always the batteries. I am thinking their support staff are automatons, spewing what they are told to spew. Anyhow, out of the clear blue the unit started working again on its own. It was finally done in by a wind gust recorded at 45.6 mph, when the wind cup assembly just flew off of the unit, even though it is rated to handle wind speed of 118 mph. Be aware that you cannot buy replacement parts from Lacrosse. Hard to imagine how they stay in business given the poor quality of the product and their support practices, which must have the approval of company management.
