5.0 out of 5 stars A milestone November 15, 2001
Format:Audio CD
this album features some of his greatest songs. These where all great succeses in Italy and in the rest of
Europe. Although the songs are a bit old, from the seventies and eighties, the words and feelings are timeless. It's great music to
listen to, it picks you up when you feel down. Just listen for yourself!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars IMPECCABLE CRAFTMANSHIP: BATTIATO September 6, 2013
Format:Audio CD
Battiato La Cura: Best of has delivered album after album with musical gems in the very unique Italian genre of popular music which rests heavily on influences from Italian opera and classical music to innovative experimenting with new techniques and global musical development.

Regretfully he, like other outstanding Italian singers, poets and composers, male or female, seems to be limited to Italy and the other Latin neighbour countries. In the rest of Europe his work is virtually unknown except for smaller audiences with a soft spot for Italy in general.

Like France, with it's tradition of chansons, the Portuguese fado, the immense treasure of Hispanic/Latin American popular traditionals, Italy continues to cultivate a musical tradition of their own, once very successful, copied and covered by prominent Amreican crooners, such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Andy Williams or female vocalists like Connie Frances, Doris Day and others. In Europe the San Remo Festival got attention in the sixties and part of the seventies to a series of recurrent success in the European Song Contest Festival, with a major breakthrough when " Non ho L'eta" became a massive global hit and onwards.

Battista, Mina and others attracted the European tourists when the Italian Sea Resorts peaked. When Toscana became all the rage the interest shifted focus to old Italian songs (Arie antiche) with medevial roots and opera and the interest for contemporary Italian music waned off.

Battiato, like Brel in Flandres/France, went his own way, often too comlicated unless you were quiet familiar with the Italian language.
