What a privilege and honor to be able to be the FIRST to review the latest album by my favorite artist and his family! I'm crazy about bachata music and in my opinion, no one so effectively conveys the same feeling and compassion for the music than Joan Soriano does. There is such an electricity that fills the room at a live performance that is inexplicable. I'm not sure what magic comes out of the mouths and the instruments but it captivates the crowd every time. . . I don't think I've ever seen a still body in the house. This CD is about as close as you come to that live performance. You get the music from all his talented family with songs sung by Nelly, Griselda and Fernando in addition to the DUKE OF BACHATA himself. I can play the Soriano CD's over and over start to finish and love all the music better with each listen.

The is a wonderful group of songs featuring Joan Soriano, The Duke of Bachata, along with members of his ultra talented family, Fernando, Griselda, and Nelly. The album is full of bachatas of various tempos and includes a couple guitar merengues as well.

This is a very special CD. To be sure, any new release by Joan Soriano is special - he stands at the forefront of the resurgence of classic Dominican bachata, a welcome change from the heavy, syrupy beats of New York-style bachata, which is practically all one hears in Latin clubs in the States these days. What makes this CD particularly special is the recording debut of Joan's three siblings: his brother Fernando and sisters Nelly and Griselda. You can tell from listening to the interplay between the four of them that they have grown up with each other and with the music, and it gives their music a joy and earnestness rarely encountered in recordings of any genre. The songs themselves are simple, stories of flirtation and love won and lost, but the spirit that the four Sorianos impart to the record is what truly brings it together. If you're a fan of bachata but looking for something a bit simpler and more genuine, try this. You won't regret it.
