Most Helpful Customer Reviews

9 of 11 people found the following review helpful By Brady R. Mcelligott on January 20, 2007
Format: Audio CD
I recently had the pleasure of singing the "Bass King" in this fantastic work. Based on the traditional (around New Mexico, at least) celebration of La Posada, when the Kings arrive at the manger scene, it has only a few allusions to jazz. (The recording has a few places where Brubeck and his crew do a few jazz riffs that are not in the printed score.) As this is the only recording of this wonderful piece, get it if you like Brubeck, and get it if you like the tradition of La Posada.
