5.0 out of 5 stars Great new music, October 9, 2011

This review is from: La Llorona (MP3 Download)
I am 67 years old ,I have heard just about all types of music, and enjoy them all. But this group "Beirut",has me excited about music again. It is very difficult to describe what they are playing. One time it sounds like a dirge from New Orleans, then a melody from European gypsy music, then something out of the 1930s.The lead singer(Zach)has a haunting, poetic, voice and plays a trumpet, not a guitar! There are also violins, tubas, ukuleles, accordions and other instruments.Whatever it is ,I find it fun and enjoyable to listen to. The newest CD is called "The Rip Tide",and is their best yet. Jimflutes
