Customer Reviews

Highly recommend this coffee / espresso maker.

I enjoy the espresso it makes but I definitely do not have refined tastes and enjoy it more with milk than straight up.

Easy to use and easy to clean, I have recommended this espresso maker to my friends and family.

This is a countertop friendly, cordless espresso maker that makes great coffee when you use an espresso grind for the coffee. The auto shut-off makes it foolproof, and it is made of stainless steel, so no off tastes. I think it is great!

My wife and I were looking to replace our old-fashioned aluminum stove-top espresso maker with something simple yet easier to clean. The aluminum models are a drag--you never know if the temperature is right or how long to let it sit on the stove. They're also nearly impossible to keep clean. The La Pavoni ESP-20 Caffe Mattina seemed like a good choice: it uses electricity, has an auto-shut off function, and it's made of stainless steel. I've used several times now and find the ESP-20 to be exactly as described: it's easy to use, easy to clean, and it brews several cups of smooth espresso in less than ten minutes (depending on the temperature of the fresh water you use). The stainless-steel construction is very robust, and the design is very stylish. As you can see from the advertising photo, this model has a tiny spout that looks, well, impractical. To the contrary, I found this little pitcher to pour very, very well. And my wife thinks it so cute. It costs a bit more than you might expect for something this small and simple, but I think it's a good value. Highly recommended.

I have been using this for over 2 years and it is fantastic. I used to drink a pot of coffee in the morning and needless to say, I had some predictable side effects. I was constantly running to the bathroom, my stomach was queasy, I got frequent headaches and was jittery, not to mention the time it takes to drink that much coffee. Now I drink a pot of this a day (equivalent to an ample cup of coffee) and experience none of the above. Just for the record, mine has a 10 shot capacity. It simply improved my quality of life. A lot to say about a small pot! Espresso experts will scoff at calling it "espresso" since it won't meet their brewing standards, but for those of us out there that are NOT experts and want to "get up and go" in the morning, then this is the one for you! Just one tip - pack the grounds loosely and don't overfill it with espresso grounds or it will spurt, spew and sputter.

I usually make my espresso with a stove-top espresso maker, which makes excellent espresso. I got this for when I wanted to make more espresso, take it on trips, etc. The only problem is, it doesn't make very good espresso. That's why I call it a "coffee maker." I think it turns out a few good cups of coffee, but the taste cannot be compared with my little stove-top espresso maker - it just doesn't taste like espresso, and the texture is a little thick. I use it, and enjoy it, but not every day. I will say though, for those who like it, it works well in making iced coffee.

This machine is a little beast. I am using it right now and it still works just as great as when I got 6 YEARS AGO! My roommates must have accidentally washed the base (hand washed not machine) at least three times but it still keeps on truckin'. I enjoy the espresso it makes but I definitely do not have refined tastes and enjoy it more with milk than straight up. That being said if you are into drinking espresso straight I would consider the other reviews first but if you want a durable little workhorse than this is a good choice!

I've owned this espresso maker for over 3 years and use it at least once a day. It makes wonderful espresso, doesn't boil over (like stove-top models) and cleans up easily. It is very reliable. If it ever dies, I would replace it with the same one.
