Editorial Reviews

The debut full length from La Sera, the new project of "Kickball" Katy Goodman (of Vivian Girls / All Saints Day). La Sera showcases Goodman's signature style, bringing her talent for creating dreamy pop songs to the forefront. Inspired by early pop hits of the 1950s, her new songs contain warm celestial-pop melodies that echo with the dreamlike effect of a church choir and effuse a softer, less aggressive sound than the Vivian Girls.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like a breath of fresh air December 2, 2012
By G. mays
Format:Audio CD
I like this album. I really really really like it. I really really really really really really like it. Guitars tinkle. Birds fly around my apartment. Animals talk to me. Flowers dance. A disco ball effect starts up even though I have no disco ball. Glitter falls from the ceiling. The Munchkins from The Wizard of Oz show up and sing along. And then I am carried to the heavens drifting along on a gentle breeze of music--La Sera. I also really really really like their other album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glad this one came around! April 1, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Dreamy, retro and, at some points, appearing to be sarcastic and dark, "Kickball" Katy Goodman's debut might have been released under a not-so-original moniker; but it brings a refreshing dose of mellow songs that sound as if they were playing on a vintage radio at your mother or grandmother's childhood home. On this release, Goodman was accompanied by her friend Brady Hall, who also did the music videos, while her Vivian Girls band mate Cassie Ramone provided the cover art.

Make sure you check out Never Come Around, Left This World and Sleeptalking, as they're outstanding tracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars We listen to this album all the time July 11, 2011

Short and sweet...but not too sweet. The 'retro sixties' feel does NOT come off as gimicky although you could probably fool some people into thinking some of the songs were 'lost' vintage gold! We always listen to it straight through and it's always over too soon.
