First, the device arrived in Pal mode so that most TV's could not display the picture. Then, I literally could not find a single mpeg 4 on my computer that this device could play. Pictures and music worked but I bought the device for video. The interface looks like something you might see on an atari. I almost never leave bad feedback but this device was so thoroughly disappointing that I wanted to protect others from wasting their money. LaCie is a good company but this is a pathetic excuse for a product.

Pros:
- with software update it supports NTFS - reasonable amount of file format supported Cons: - impossible to recognize my unformatted WD caviar green 1.5TB - software update hang, I had to physically unplug the enclosure despite all warnings saying not to, as it was the only thing left to regain control. It didn't brick it - divx playing quality is average to low, at least w.r.t WD TV Live HD - does not read divx above ~520p (no downscaling) - ships with 1080p by default, so you have to connect first with composite to change the setting if your TV is only 720p - the enclosure felt from 3 feet on a soft berberian carpet, with 1 drive inside. Stopped working, I thought it was the HDD but in fact the enclosure is broken and the hdd is perfectly fine - product has been thrown away, and replaced by a WD TV Live HD + NAS.
