5.0 out of 5 stars Very Happy February 10, 2012

I purchased this disk array, stripped out the disks and replaced them with 2xSSD's. The performance has been beyond all my expectations. My use of this array is for demonstrating very large and complex computer systems that normally require a server class machine. I have been able to put the software and database for several applications onto this disk, run the applications from my MacBook Pro and get faster results than our data center servers. I will be purchasing another one of these and daisy chain them together. The small footprint of this unit has made it a perfect fit for my needs as i am constantly traveling all over the world and it fits snugly into my briefcase.
I just purchased a second unit - the 2TB one - it is fast and it is compact. I use these disks on my mac with vmware for LINUX servers running large ORACLE based ERP systems and i have three such systems running at the same time from my notebook. I tried this with E-SATA and USB3 on a windows7 corei7 pc and could not get a workable solution. Everyone watchimg my demo is now amazed at the speed of the system on my macbook. IT HAS ACHIEVED everything i ever wanted and have not been able to obtain from previous technologies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great! December 31, 2011
This is a compact and a very powerful hard drive. It's equipped with two super-fast Thunderbolt interfaces. The transfer speeds are just awesome. The drive looks excellent next to my new iMac, both the style and the color of the aluminum go very well together. I'm enjoying using it, and have not experienced any problems so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars 180MB/s read and write November 13, 2012
I dont know why some of the negative reviewers dont see these speeds; but, as lacie claimed I get 180+MB/s read and write speeds with 1TB model in RAID0. I bought this for video editing and this simply rocks. I have a Agility-3 SSD as my macbook's internal drive and that drive gives me only upto 160-170 MB/s read and write speeds and sometimes even 150MB/s. So, these 7200rpm drives in RAID0; simply rock.

For those who wanna get it but can't afford it. I got the refurbished one from macmall.com for just $209(excluding the cable) which is still available. So I think that is a steal and yousave more than 170bucks. So think about it? I know it is refurbished, but i took the leap of faith and am happy with it. Hopefully for longer.

I am so impressed with this, that I started bidding in ebay for a used one of the same, and finally won a deal for $175 for a used lacie little big 1TB including thunderbolt cable. I think it is a steal again. I only hope they last long. I could not keep quiet with such good deals and so had to share with you guys. :) :D

4.0 out of 5 stars Speeds (numbers)- VMs
I purchased this as I had a spare 512GB, Sata-3, SSD and my MBP only has a Thunderbolt connector. The bottle neck is on the Little Big Disk as the board uses Sata-2, not Sata-3. Read more
