Book Description

December 2003
Safety inspector Lance Beckman is abducted by a UFO to Moonbase, sixty years in the future. He attempts to join an expedition to a planet thirty seven light years away which has strange lifeforms.

Already trading with an alien starship and the lost world of its origin, Lunar Federation opens diplomatic relations with Erdron, a planet with a dying sun whose administration shuns outside contact.

Still trying to understand the giant ship’s organic control systems, a Lunar Federation team rescues the unpredictable vessel when it runs out of control towards the galactic hub, replacing the Navigator Adepts who have lost their piloting skills with rehabilitated technology thief Leighton Carmody.

The principals of Chovy Psychoanalytic Foundation remain silent on their findings, then disappear without trace followed by time-traveler Clinton Schoenberg. As Federation Chairman Bryan Hammond battles to understand new alien technologies in the universe he thought he knew so well, an enigmatic woman no one has seen before seduces Carmody, the only source of his desperately needed abilities.

About the Author

Julian Nathan studied school physics in UK at the end of World War Two. The technological expansion of the period sparked an interest in electronics that grew during his first five working years in Australian beef and wool farming.

Interest in Hi-Fi drew him back to the city to work in Audio, followed by two decades in motion picture engineering and production, and later, theater installation and service. A further decade spent in farming and earthmoving equipment service in the Australian inland provided background for exotic story locations and his unique meld of conventional and organic technologies.

In this sequel, Laboratory of the Ancients, the incomprehensible alien technology postulated in Book 1, The Schoenberg Agenda, is revealed in earthy and satisfying detail. We can’t know the fearsome powers an outworld species might possess. Before we meet them, a course in the new psychology will be essential, for our survival.

Concerned that we might one day meet powerful aliens before we learn not to abuse our own history, he continues to write Science Fiction at his home in Sydney, Australia.
