For veterinary technology and pre-veterinary medicine students, this is the only comparative veterinary anatomy and physiology manual covering cat dissection, sheep heart, brain and eye, and the pig's kidney. An introduction to laboratory equipment and techniques prepares the students for lab work. The book covers the muscular, digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular, urinary, reproductive, endocrine and nervous systems. It also covers skeletal anatomy of many species. Each chapter includes a physiology experiment to help illustrate some of the principles of physiology covered in lecture portions of the course instruction. Histology of tissues is also covered in this manual. A basic knowledge of biology is assumed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely love this book!, March 28, 2008
This review is from: Laboratory Manual for Comparative Veterinary Anatomy & Physiology (Spiral-bound)
This book was an absolute life saver! I am taking distance learning classes for a degree as a Veterinary Technician and one disadvantage is that we don't have the actual hands on lab classes for dissection. This book helps us in giving a visual on what we are learning in the Anatomy and Physiology classes and definitely helped me prepare a lot better for upcoming exams.
The person that wrote the review about this book being completely incorrect and full of wrong information was seriously mislead and I believe has wasted money in taking that class that he/she was in. In making the comment that the "author doesn't even know what digit the horse walks on" proves that they and especially the instructor do not know what they were talking about as the book was correct in what I had learned before receiving this book.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone taking any kind of anatomy classes for animals and most especially for those taking distance learning classes and don't have the advantage of having a college nearby that offers those classes in order to get true hands on. Distance learning is still a very credible way of learning and is proving to be quite intense so far, you definitely still learn a lot.

1.0 out of 5 stars A total train wreck, December 9, 2007

I bought this for Vet A&P in the fall. Unfortunately I still have another hellish term with this lousy manual. During almost every lab, we take out the manual and the instructor goes through and has us cross off everything that's wrong in the book. This thing has been a road block to my education. The author doesn't seem to even know which digit a horse walks on! Waste your money if you want to, but you'd be better off walking into A&P lab with nothing rather than this 5 pound pile of toilet paper.
