Excellent Sound. Comfortable. Adjustable. Works Perfectly!,

This review is from: Labtec Axis-502 Deluxe Stereo Headset with Boom Microphone (Personal Computers)
I have had this headset with microphone for quite some time. I originally bought it for on-line webcasts and radio shows. The sound comes through perfectly from the comfortable and adjustable padded headset, and the mic works just beautifully, for others to hear crystal clear voice over the Internet. I have also used this to listen to meditation music, and the quality is superb. I can't imagine why others have given this product negative reviews, perhaps the sound system on their computer doesn't work well. I have recommended this headset & mic to many people I know, simply because it works, and the price is right. Highly recommended!

Not worth the trouble.,

The headset requires a sound card that supplies phantom power to the microphone or an additional power supply to be purchased from Labtec. Nothing on the packaging mentions this requirement! None of the 4 computers in my home office were compatible with the Axis-502 headset and the Labtec website offers a very limited FAQ list with very vague answers. The boom mic on mine is floppy and will not stay in place during use.

Bad luck or a piece of junk...?,

I use Windows2000 and I have an phone line for internet connection. And when I first bought this mic it was all cool at first, although it did pick up static. But what can you excpect? You can't be too picky right? Well, about a week after I bought it, it broke! The microphone had stopped working for some odd reason, although the earphones still worked. But what's the point if the mic doesnt work? So I shrugged it off and just thought I had spent [$$$] on a dud, no biggie. Well I bought another one, and the SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED WITH THAT ONE! Only this time it lasted two weeks before it gave out. The microphone just stopped working! And I have no idea why... But I will tell you this... After spending [$$$] on two mics that both seemed to die on me.... Im not spending [$$$] more on another one!I'm through with this mic! I do NOT recommend it to anyone who can HELP getting a different one... But if you have no other choice, then dont miss the chance... Cuz they were good mics the week or two they each lived....

Good sound but been through 2 pair that broke,

I loved the sound quality of these headphones for the price, and the microphone was not too bad. The only problem I have had though, is that I am on my second broken pair. The volume control device keeps failing. I think wires inside the volume control are actually breaking. When I play with it for a while I finally get sound, but otherwise there they have completely stopped working. Last time a pair broke on me with the same issue, I called technical support and immediately after telling the rep. the problem, she said they would replace them without me even sending in the broken ones. That says to me, they must have been aware of the problem, and it must be a common problem.

I've had 2 sets of these for about 3 years now. Was so happy with the first pair I bought another for the upstairs computer as well.
I'm totally convinced the people who suggest "mic eating" are dealing with sound card adjusments or just low quality sound cards in general. I'm a gamer and I'm able to hear my game in full stereo, crystal clear, as well as Ventrilo conversations with no problems whatsoever. The mic stays put exactly where I want it, and doesn't pick up much background sounds if any at all. I absolutely suggest this product for the price. 5 stars, hands down, thumbs up.

I've had these for about two years and the mic has never worked well... I almost had to "eat" the microphone in order for people to hear what I was saying. I know of some other headsets on the same price range that work a lot better than these ones (Labtec)

Take This Out In The Garbage!,

Don't even waste your cash. What was Labtec making? Drek! Poor voice recognition. Low sound reception. Then, even worse, an awkward on / off switch. Instead I suggest the high performance Logitech 980130-0403 Premium USB 300 Headset.

I don't know why you guys call this a piece of junk or w/e. I had this for maybe a month, and I switched to a better headset, not because it broke, but I wanted something better for gaming. The earphones were great, but, ya your right, i had to "eat" the MIC, too, in order for people to hear me CLEARLY. Overall, this is an "O.K." product.
