I recieved the labtec for free in the mail, and it's not even worth that. In light other than blinding sunshine and many flourescent lights, the pictures are low quality and grainy. Most are pitch black. The flash turns everything bright orange and makes everything too bright, so everyone's faces are glowing white blobs.

The only thing it's good for is close up flower pictures in the sun that I can use to make my desktop background... But all other pictures taken on it turn out very bad. I make them look sorta ok using Photoshop, but even that doesn't help most of the time.

The video mode is limited to 4 seconds and has no sound. It has no brightness control or anything so it doesn't turn out viewable. And it beeps when it starts and finishes, but the beep isn't accurate. So you think that you got something on the movie but it ends up being cut off. 4 seconds is very short, and most of the time you can't even see the video.

The software that comes with it isn't good at all and it is hard to navigate and operate. You need to read the manual a lot in order to understand what it does. Plus, the shutter speed is very slow. The picture is actually taken way after it beeps. So it beeps and you think the picture was taken so you lower the camera, then it takes a picture after that of your feet. Or the shot becomes blurred by the motion. So you have to hold it completely still for a few seconds after the beep until you're sure it works.

Only works in bright sun, never ever use the flash. Usually isn't focused, color is messed up.

It was better than the last free camera I got though, but now I need a camera that actually costs something...

Please don't waste your money buying this. Labtec should pay you to buy it.

The LABTEC DC-1300 is an outstanding camera for the beginner. If you have a PC, it's basically Plug'n'Play to get your photos. The reviewer above, apparently thinks this is a camera for professionals. It is not meant to be that. For your teenager, or your uncle Ralph, who's all thumbs, this is a great way to get them involved with digital photography. I have several high-end digital cameras, but I always keep one of these (I own several) in my glove box, for whenever an unexpected photo opportunity pops up.
