About the Author

Inside Lacrosse Magazine was founded in 1997 by Robert Carpenter. As the publication grew over the years, the choicest photography and story ideas that rolled through the offices would be filed away. Year after year, this special collection of material began to bulge and eventually became the backbone of LACROSSE, North America s Game. This book is a culmination of eight years of publishing. This book is meant to paint a picture of lacrosse through photograph and written word. In many ways, it signifies the magazine s history and the evolution that has landed the magazine where it is today. But in many other ways it signifies the future, and where the magazine is headed as they continue to cover this sport that is so dynamic and truly unique.

4.0 out of 5 stars good read for overall knowledge of evolution of game, August 5, 2005

This review is from: Lacrosse: North America's Game (Hardcover)
I got this book because I'm an avid lacrosse player and love learning about the roots and evolution of the game. Since I live in Texas where lacrosse isn't nearly as big here as it is in the Northeast, it was interesting to see how the game is played and the culture is so huge at the D1 level. There was too much emphasis on the men's game, however, with only one section devoted to the women's game. But the picture quality was awesome, thanks to Inside Lacrosse magazine, and the layout is also neatly done. Makes for a good coffee-table book.

4.0 out of 5 stars a great pictorial and narrative on Lacrosse old and new, June 19, 2008
This review is from: Lacrosse: North America's Game (Hardcover)
I got into Lacrosse because my son who is 8 discoverd it a year ago and has fallen in love with the sport. I wanted him to have a book that would teach him about the origins of the game and how it became what it is today. This book is a picture story and is an interesting and easy read. It was the perfect gift. We both love it and will enjoy it for years.
