In addition to a plethora of GREAT recipes, Lactose Free and Loving It provides practical information on living lactose free: how to cut lactose with out totally cutting dairy, taste bud friendly dairy substitutes, etc.
Although I am not lactose intolerant, I use this cook book to confidently cook for my lactose intolerant friends. I now cook some of my favorite cheesy dishes positive none of my guests will leave the table with a tummy ache!

I purchased this cookbook a while back and although I haven't tried all the recipes, the ones I have tried I really liked. My husband is crazy about the "Best Chocolate Cake Ever"!! I have made it 3 times already. It's different because you use boiling water and the batter is thin. But it bakes up real moist. I also loved the Manicotti and the Baked Potato Soup. It was delicious!! I think you will love this cookbook even if you are not lactose intolerent. You can just use real dairy instead.

I've watched my poor daughter suffer with Lactose Intolerance for twenty years. Her condition form birth has only grown worse. We finally gave up on the "lactose pills" and opted for a lactose free diet. After checking out several books from the library we came upon this one and purchased our own copy form Amazon. Not only does this cookbook have yummy, easy to make recipes, it is also filled with extremely practical information about living with a lactose free diet. After following Mandy's suggestions and watching food labels carefully, my daughter has been pain free for about three weeks. Just and incredible resource. We are so thankful to have found this book. We really hope there is a Volume 2 coming out soon!

My teenage daughter has been searching for recipes that are lactose free, have easily accessible ingredients, and TASTE good. This book helps fill all of the criteria. Other books don't have ingredients that are easy to obtain but this one does and so far everything we've made has been delicious and the whole family can enjoy instead of feeling like they are "suffering" by eating what she has to due to her intolerance. This is the best book I've found so far!

I am a mom that is new to lactose intolerance. I am also a busy mom that works full time. This book has been the "ticket" for our family. I am sure that there are better books out there for chefs, who are looking for complicated recipes. This book is easy to read with simple recipes that are easy to follow for a working mom. I really like this book and I plan to use it frequently. So far the best that I have come across!

I received this book as a gift and figured it was your typical cookbook. However, I now look forward to picking out what delicious things I'm going to prepare for the week! The book is filled with a variety of catagories, appetizers, greens, fish, pasta, chicken, pizza and desserts and more. My favorite features of the book are that most recipes have just a few ingredients and they're fast and easy to prepare! The stuffed mushroom caps are amazing and the honey salmon tastes better than any fish I've ever had in a restaurant! The best part is, it takes about 5 mins to prep. = My husband has no issues with lactose, and even he loves the recipes, saying they taste just like "normal food". = The cookbook has become a staple in our kitchen and always the first thing we grab when we want something great to fix for company!

This product specifically states "Lactose free" but they still use "lactose free" cheeses/milks. My stomach cannot handle "Lactose free" cheeses as there is normally traces of lactose in them. If you can eat these products, feel free to buy it, but if you can't it's a waste of money
Oh, and there are no pictures in it D=

I am very disappointed with this book. I bought it with the hopes of finding some new dishes to try that are safe for me to eat. However, it never crossed my mind that one third of the recipes would be of the type that normally have no milk such as BBQ ribs, filet Mignon, croutons, chili, potato salad, guacamole, hummus, salsa, deviled eggs, pita chips, apple cider, cranberry sauce, peach tea?!, the list just goes on and on. Look in any regular cook book, and you can find those recipes there without milk products. The next one third of the book has recipes that are easy to adjust by adding lactose free milk/milk free butter spread. The rest of the recipes call for name brand products which DO contain milk products that will affect those who are strongly affected by lactose. I did find one or two recipes that might be promising, but it's not worth the 14$ I paid, so I am returning the book. If you know your way around a kitchen and are cooking for someone who reacts strongly to lactose, don't waste your time ordering this book, you can find better free recipes online.
