Book Description

0963837605 978-0963837608 January 1994 2nd
Some of Michigan's First Ladies reveled in the spotlight accorded them by virtue of being married to the Governor of the State. Others made the best of their non-elected, non-paying jobs. This edition of the "First Ladies of Michigan" provides an insight into the lives of these women from the hardships of the Territorial Governor's First Lady, to Governor John Engler's wife, Michelle, today. Profiles of Michigan's three women Lieutenant Governors are also included: Matilda Dodge Wilson, Martha Griffiths and Connie Binsfeld.

4.0 out of 5 stars Made the wives of the governors of Michigan, seem so real., March 10, 1999

This review is from: First Ladies in Michigan/Second Edition (Paperback)
Willah Weddon took her in depth research and made reading the stories of these women and their lives a very enjoyabe experience. The book was easy to read and even if you are not a history buff you will enjoy it. Most of these women were just ordinary women. They had ordinary lives, only to have their personal lives thrust into the spotlite when they married the man who was to become the Michigan governor.
