1.0 out of 5 stars Like your light weight mp3 player? Don't buy this cd then!
Do you like the convenience of carrying around a nice lightweight mp3 player with hundreds of your favorite songs on it? Well if so, don't buy this CD because it is copy controlled and you will not be able to rip it to mp3, wma or any other portable format. Unlike previous copy controlled CD's though, this one does come with a specially designed player that installs...

4.0 out of 5 stars Music the fans can enjoy?, December 4, 2003
This review is from: Ladies Night (Audio CD)
I must say, I first heard Atomic Kitten less than a year ago with "You Are" and have been hooked ever since. And now, with thier newest album, "Ladies Night" I am certainly impressed. The band stayed true to themselves with more original, upbeat, and enjoyable songs like "Always Be My Baby" and "Somebody Like You". And the added remake of "Ladies Night" is in a league of it's own.

But with a sticker on the back saying "For copy protection, this CD incorporates copy protection technology. This CD may not be playable in certain devices." I would think this was for the artists protection. But I put it in the stereo in my car (an Alpine head unit, less than a year old) and it wouldn't play. Only after I put it in and took it out at least five or six times did it actually begin to play. This random, playing and not playing, continued even after it played for the first time. I think others should be aware of this. If you want to buy a CD you can listen to in any CD player, be warned. Otherwise, it's another great addition to anyones Atomic Kitten collection.

My rating is four of five stars, the fifth is for when I can listen to it where I want, when I want.

I been a fan of Atomic Kitten for a year now, ever since I heard "It's OK" I was hooked and constantly keeping track of them. I recently bought "Ladies Night" on my trip to Paris and I haven't stopped listening yet. You won't skip a song with their innovative disco-pop sound. All I can say is that the British pop scene will never be the same again. Brittania rule the waves!

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Amazing CD Yet--, November 25, 2003

I first started listening to Ak after hearing Tide Is High about a year ago, and after buying Feels So Good, I didn't think any other song will grow on me like the pop songs on FSG did. Ak's trademark is their beautiful harmonies, catchy melodies and sweet (not sappy) songs - the blend that is most refreshing to the boring rnb and obnoxious rap songs that cluttered the american radio. Anyways, this album is as OPPOSITE of the word 'boring' as possible - even the ballads which are usually a slow aural torture when done by even good artists are captivating. In fact, "Believer", "Don't Let Me Down" and "Nothing in the World" are my favorites. The other sort-of slow songs are good too - the first single "If You Come To Me" is done quite nicely (though the lyrics could be better, or it's just me). The RnB-ish tracks are extremely catchy - "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" is like Whoa! and will leave you humming along all day long. "Don't You Know" has great lyrics and everyone I showed it to loved it, and "Loving You" is cool too. The title track is a classic pop and also memorable. Atomic Kitten really did a good job writing and singing this album - I can't wait for what they will have out next!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Their best work yet!, December 29, 2003
This review is from: Ladies Night (Audio CD)
This is definitely the Kittens' best album yet. Out of three releases, this ranks #1 on my favourites list. It leaves Feels So Good & Right Now in the dust (not that I don't love those CD's, I do). I have been a fan of the Kittens since the early days when 'Right Now' and 'See Ya' were out with Kerry in the group. I really got into them and bought their first album when Jenny joined the group. I have supported them since then.
The only annoying thing about this CD is the Copy Protection feature. It won't let me play it on the computer and it takes a long time for my stereo to recognise it, and sometimes I have to try it numerous times.
But anyway, this is great pop CD, with every kind of genre mixed in. Track rundown:

1. Ladies Night
A great COLLABORATION. People have been saying it's another cover, but in the album credits in the booklet it says 'Atomic Kitten featuring Kool & The Gang', so it's a colloboration, not a cover. And what a brilliant one it is. This is very funky and upbeat, and will definitely get you on your feet. Kool & The Gang sing on the chorus at the end, and each AK girl leaves their impression on this groovy song. A winner. 5/5
2. Be With You
This was the b-side song to 'Last Goodbye' released in 2002, and it's still a corker now. A great addition to the album, if the last track didn't get you dancing, this one will. It's a great Europop song with glittery music. 4.5/5
3. Dont Go Breaking My Heart
Brilliant track written by Jenny and her fiance Dom. This is very upbeat and funky, with great vocals from all the girls. The chorus will get stuck in your head. Another winning track. 5/5
4. If You Come To Me
The first single released off the album, this is a great song. The music is very cute and the chorus is super catchy - it's one of the girls' best singles yet. This hit No.3 in the UK. 5/5
5. Believer
This track has very positive spiritual lyrics and a catchy chorus. I love Jenny's whispered 'Your love has made me a believer' and Tash's sustained vocals at the end. 5/5
6. Everything Goes Around
Instantly likeable, this is one of my favourites. Written by Jenny, this is very funky and upbeat. With great vocals from all three girls and a strong chorus, you can't not like this track. Simply great. 5,000/5
7. Somebody Like You
This is one of the blandest tracks on the album. It is generic dance pop, and it's alright, but not one of the stronger songs on the album. 3/5
8. Nothing In The World
Brilliant! This is my favourite on the album. The chorus totally makes this song - it is anthemic, strong and singable. You'll find yourself singing along by the end. This song has three verses, one sung by each girl and the brilliant chorus. I love it. 5,000,000/5
9. Always Be My Baby
This track is extremely cute and upbeat, with great guitar music. Written by Liz, you can't help nodding along to the chorus, which is strong in it's parts. The lyrics are cool too. 5/5
10. I Wont Be There
Another pop/dance track, this has a catchy chorus and cool lyrics, but is not one of my favourite tracks. 4/5
11. Never Get Over You
Here we go! The first full blown ballad of the album, this is written by Liz and she sings main vocals. She sounds brilliant - her vocals shine. Tash tackles the second verse while Jenny adlibs on the chorus. Nice music too. One of my favourites. 5/5
12. Dont You Know
I LOVE THIS TRACK! This is my second favourite song on the album. It has a very strong chorus, and a great chanted bit 'Don't you know don't you know...' that resonates in your head. All 3 girls put in a strong performance on this track. 50,000/5
13. Loving You
Another blandish track, this has a strong chorus and nice verses and lyrics. 3/5
14. Dont Let Me Down
A GREAT track written by Jenny (she writes the best songs on the CD), this has strong lyrics about wanting a man who already has a girlfriend. It's kind of midtempo and sounds like it could be on adult comptemporary radio. But it's still great. My third favourite. 5,000/5
15. Someone Like Me
A great closer to the album, this is the second of only two ballads on the album, written by Liz. She sings the whole song by herself bar two lines from Tash. Liz sounds great, but where is Jenny? 5/5

Top 5 songs in order:

1. Nothing In The World
2. Don't You Know
3. Don't Let Me Down
4. Everything Goes Around
5. Ladies Night

Overall, the best Kitten album and should guarantee the girls some huge hits, depending on what songs they release. I suggest one of the songs above (Ladies Night is the second single off the album and it charted No.8 Christmas week, shame, it's a great song). Great CD that should keep the girls on the pop map for a while longer. Can't wait for the next album!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Ladies Night (Audio CD)
This CD is so great, Atomic Kitten is the best band ever! I love every CD from them that I own and they all belong to my favorite CD's! All the songs are great, but my favorites are Ladies Night, Nothing in the World, I won't be there, Don't you know and Don't let me down. As always, they sound great and this is the perfect CD to give someone who likes Atomic Kitten or pop. I would also recommend their other albums, but from the ones that I have, is The Greatest Hits their best CD!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great pop record...without the annoying RnB attempts..., March 13, 2004

DevilMinogue (Vancouver, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ladies Night (Audio CD)
It seems that every pop artist in the face of the earth has decided to go RnB (for christ's sakes, even Kylie did!) but AK has stayed true to pop, and this, their third album is by far their best. "Ladies Night" is a strong opener, and if you see the video, you will also notice it has a very cute choreography. Next is "Be With You" a breathy disco track with a catchy chorus. Other highlights on the album are "Everything Goes Around", "If You Come To Me", the gorgeous "Someone Like Me" and "Nothing In The World". As for more dance tracks, there's "Don't Go Breaking My Heart", "Somebody Like Me" and "Loving You". The only bland moment on the album is the song "Don't You Know", but the rest is pure class. However, the outstanding track on this album is "I Won't Be There", one of the best kitten songs recorded. The album won't turn your life around, is not meaningful and deep, but you will have lots of fun listening to it.
