5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Book for the Faerie Enthusiast with a Sense of Humor, March 25, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book (Hardcover)
I originally picked this book up years ago, when I was younger and probably wouldn't have been able to appreciate it. I was interested, but due to the nudity thing and my parents... didn't get it. I recently gave in and bought the Cottington Albums, having enjoyed Froud's Faeries book and being intrigued to explore his work further. The Lady Cottington work is very different, and quite unique from what I have soon, but very beautiful, and very very fun. I love the playful approach of these books. Not for the weak of heart or prissies, these are NOT your average "fairies," but for the fun loving faerie enthusiast, this is a definite must read. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Morbid... in a good way, October 15, 2010
This review is from: Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book (Hardcover)
I bought this for my wife. She had mentioned seeing a book about squished fairies a few years back and once I did a little poking around I discovered the book in question. I have to say very morbid, and I mean that in a good way. Anyone who loves fantasy and has a wicked sense of humor will love this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!, December 30, 2010

This review is from: Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book (Hardcover)
I run a photography studio that specializes in fairy Portraits. I am VERY interested in all things Fairy. When I heard about this book, I ordered it used. I was amazed at how fast it arrived and at the near NEW condition it was.
Then I opened it.
BRILLIANT writing style, funny, "believable" and very cute art concept.
I think this is SO reminiscent of the Spiderwick Chronicles. What a FUN book!
It looks SO MUCH like an old leather journal. It's perfect on our coffee table and draws attention and smiles of delight to all who see it.
Very happy I got it.
Dan

5.0 out of 5 stars Books and Fairies!, July 26, 2009
By
This review is from: Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book (Hardcover)
I fell instantly in love with this book. It's beautifully illustrated with a cute and whimsical story based on the Cottingley Fairies. If you know nothing about the Cottingley Fairies I suggest you look it up to find out. In this story a little girl named Angelica Cottington has the ability to see fairies, and loves nothing more then to spend her days, squashing them between the pages of her books. It's a wonderful book for anyone in love with fairies or fairy art, and would make a wonderful gift or special treat for yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantasy Book Review, May 2, 2009

I had seen this book a number of years ago, and was delighted to obtain a copy for my library. This book is absolutely fanciful and is what I would call "tilted" humor. The author wryly twists language, and the illustrations are perfect company for the various short anecdotes. If you know of someone who likes fairies, this book is for them! It's cute and slightly twisted, but is very amusing reading.

The best part of this book is the beautiful, odd drawings of 'pressed' fairies (think pressed flowers). I enjoy the book for its uniqueness, but buyers should know that the pressed fairies are in various stages of undress and the story is not really for children.
