5.0 out of 5 stars Must have
I love this book. The first day I got it, I couldn't put it down. It is very light reading, and is a great book to read. The art work is beautifully done, making it looks like they were actually squished. It also is great how you can see the main character kind of 'grow up'. This book is not for children in anyway, however, but it is a great gift for someone who...

2.0 out of 5 stars Great expectations, greater disappointment
This book caught my eye in the bookstore and I stopped to read a few pages. Seemed like an intriguing premise, and I decided to buy it for my niece as a gift (so I could finish reading it myself!). Imagine my disappointment when the book degenerated into what I considered sexual misconduct, even rape. I'm pretty liberal, but when Lady Cottington was intimate with...

Modern technology has not found the tools to produce such a creative fantasy as this book! Those who are offended are taking the book (and life) WAY too seriously! I think this is one of the most clever and universaly entertaining books I have ever received. It will definately remain on my coffee table for some time!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you're ever gonna keep a journal, keep a fairy journal!, January 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Journal (Hardcover)
I got a copy of the fairy journal by pure luck, i ordered the Pressed Fairy Book and they sent me this lovely thing instead...i decided to keep it (ofcourse!!) as it was so amazing! It's just like the book, with the same illustrations and some of the text... I've had my journal for quite a while now, but i can't get myself to write in it, i don't wanna ruin it!! If you can't get the book, get this one instead!

If you're a fan of the Cottington fairy lore (the Pressed Fairy Book, Strange Stains and Mysterious Smells, and you might as well include the Goblin Companion since it too is made by the wonderful team of Froud and Jones), you'll never run out of holidays, or, as I call them, Excuses to Play Kazoo, Blow Bubbles, And Generally Make A Fool Of Myself. Some olidays are for elves or pixies or goblins only, but, if you consider the malleable nature of the celebrants as mentioned in other Froud books, this isn't really much of a hindrance. Consider this book as having four stars on it's own, but five when coupled with anything else by Terry Jones and Brian Froud.

4.0 out of 5 stars A journal? Far too nice to write in!, March 13, 2004

Classed by many as an 'any year diary/jouranl' personally I find this book far too beautiful to actually write in.

If you are a Froud fan this book is a must, but it is a companion piece so do not expect a whole new range of the fairy art. Based on the original 'Pressed Fairy Book' this book contains many of the same 'pressings' and quotes from the story. As well as witty comments for select days of the year.

I borrowed this book from a friend, after I read it I went out and bought my own! I have shared this book with many others who have since purchased their own copy. I love this book ! The story is cleverly put together. This is a MUST have ! I even went out and bought the calendar that goes with the story. (Note... this book is not for young children, but why not get it for them when they are older? )

5.0 out of 5 stars Whimsical and so much Fun!!, September 22, 2002
By

You won't want to put it down! It makes a great coffee table book or gift, i haven't met one person who hasn't liked it. I have family members who don't like to read, but even they can't stop themselves once they start this book. They have all read it cover to cover. I personally re-read it regularly. I adore the illustrations, they are so much fun! You will love it! I guarantee it.

I bought a couple of the Original 1994 published books. I couldn't believe the artwork..definately Froud's best. I was in awe. Then to enjoy the humor of comedy genius Terry Jones was sheer pleasure. Just the thought of catching (SNAP!) faires in a book make me giggle. This book is a definate keeper..I'M GLAD I BOUGHT EXTRAS TO SELL & AUCTION! Everyone is tickled pink..right down to the smashed decal. ADULT HUMOR!!

I purchased this book for my cousin who collects faires. She was delighted. Loved it! The drawings are beautiful and the content humorous. She actually uses it as a journal for herself. Great gift!
