More About the Author

Chris Wenger has worked in the criminal justice field for more years than she cares to remember. She has a dual master's degree in Probation and Parole Studies and Sociology from Fordham University, but the knowledge gained from such studies certainly has not prepared her for what she loves to do the most--write romance!

Her first book, THE LADY AND THE COWBOY, a western historical, was written for beginning adult readers and was sold to Laubach Literacy. In 1998, it was chosen by the Publishers Liaison Committee of the Public Library Association's Adult Lifelong Learning Section as one of the "Top Titles for Adult New Readers."

One of the biggest thrills of her life was receiving "the call" from Susan Litman at Silhouette Special Edition in January of 2004 that they wanted to publish THE COWBOY WAY. Yeee-haw!!

THE COWBOY WAY was released in January 2005. Since then, she has published seven books. HOW TO LASSO A COWBOY will be released in July of 2011.

A native Central New Yorker, she enjoys watching professional bull riding and rodeo with her favorite cowboy, her husband.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightfully sweet romance and wonderful story., October 8, 1998

This review is from: The Lady and the Cowboy (Paperback)
THE LADY AND THE COWBOY is an excellent story and a pleasureable read no matter what the reading level. I have read this book twice and each time I finished it with a heartfelt sigh of contentment.

I am proud to see such quality writing aimed at new readers, as it will surely be read over and over.

I totally enjoyed this book. The characters are drawn so well, and the feel of the West at the turn of century comes alive. You will be transported to another time as Miss Caroline Trask leaves the comfort of NY city for her beloved home in Wyoming. She meets the handsome hero named Raven who has loved her for years, since he corresponded to Caroline on behalf of her father. Read the book and enjoy!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A gift of sweet romance for the new adult reader., October 3, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Lady and the Cowboy (Paperback)
There are many adults who are learning to read, and until recently, there were few books written to appeal to this special group. Now, there is THE LADY AND THE COWBOY, and it fulfills its promise well.

THE LADY AND THE COWBOY is a sweet, heart-warming romance about young Miss Caroline Trask of 1880 New York City, and Raven, a lonely Wyoming rancher and Caroline's father's friend.

All Caroline has wanted to do since she was 11 years old is return home to Wyoming Territory to be with her father, but since her mother died, her father wants her safely away from the hardships of frontier life. For seven years Caroline has only had her father's letters. Then she receives one that makes her fear for her father's health, so she leaves her post as governness and travels home to the Lazy Circle T ranch. There, she meets Raven--her father's friend, and the only person who is there to offer comfort--for Caroline learns her father died the week before.

Raven, a kind man, is her comfort until she receives another blow--her father has left the Lacy Circle T to Raven.

THE LADY AND THE COWBOY is a sweet romance that is touching and uplifting, skillfully written for the new adult reader. It is especially appealing to women and anyone who loves romance, and I strongly recommend it for a young teen as well.

Happy reading!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet western romance, November 12, 2011

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
this is a simple, sweet Western Romance with the expected outcome. It was a "short" story and I love happy endings. It had less editorial errors in it than some of the Kindle books.
