Lady EL,

This review is from: Lady El (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a sci fi novel by Jim Starlin and Diana Graziunas whom were married at the time this was written. There is some great art by Starlin in each chapter break that foreshadows the progression of the story line. The writing is easy to follow and tho the story is not exactly original, not giving away any spoilers it revolves around a govt experiment to use the human brain of a recently deceased person as the main processor of a super computer. What goes wrong is the subject termed 'Lady El' remains her sense of her earlier life as a black working class woman. So instead of being just a machine that takes instructions Lady EL is a being with thoughts and feelings of her own. And soon she sets her plans in motion. It is a good read, not heavy handed and fun. The most amusing part is how it takes places supposedly in the 90s but the dialogue of the brain is 70s jive talk like from a blaxploitation movie. This doesnt come off as insulting, as u will see Lady El is far from stupid, it comes off more as an amusing charecter trait. If you are a fan of Starlin and Graziunas this is a great book to have.
