10 great songs, but all 10 appear on 'Best of Styx' as well, June 17, 2008
This is a great 10 track best of for Styx covering the best of their Wooden Nickel recordings, 1972-1974. If I were compiling a 10 song Wooden Nickel best of for Styx, it would look identical to this.
However, don't buy this unless you're on a budget. This is a great 10 song best of, but there is a better option: 'Best of Styx,' which features all 10 songs here plus 'Winner Take All.'
Overall, this is a great option for the budget minded Styx fan who wants to have their early years covered, but keep in mind that the 'Best of Styx' is ten times better.
Highly recommended, but only for the budget minded Styx fan. If you own the 'Best of Styx' (Wooden Nickel/RCA), don't buy it because you already have all of these songs!
ENJOY!!!

The original Wooden Nickel "Best Of", November 21, 2004
This review is from: Lady - The Encore Collection (Audio CD)
This CD is a re-issue of the Wooden Nickel "Best of" release that was only on vinyl LP. It features all but one (Winner Take All) from that fine collection. As someone who loved the original (pre-Equinox) sound of Styx, this is music to my ears!

Nice Greatest Hits Collection (Early Years), March 16, 2001
If you're looking for a small sampling of Styx's 1972-1974 music, this wouldn't be a bad place to start. 10 songs from Styx I, II, The Serpent is Rising and Man of Miracles. Lady is clearly the most recognizable song. Best Thing and What Has Come Between Us are early songs and worth a listen. You Need Love moves quicker than most of the early diamonds in the rough. I'm Gonna Make You Feel It has always been one of my favorites. Witch Wolf and The Grove of Eglantine are also very good. Southern Woman, Man of Miracles and Rock & Roll Feeling are all JY guitar songs.
