While a lot of people may be getting tired of Lady Gaga's zany outfits and long music videos, I'm glad to see her still going. What I thought for sure was going to be a one or two hit wonder turned out to be a pop culture phenomenon. I'm not trying to jump the gun here, but it really does seem like it's Madonna all over again. I would've gladly accepted a photo book showing off Gaga's hundreds of outfits, but this is something truly special. It might not be one of the best photo books to come out this year, but when Lady Gaga is the subject matter, and she's all for not looking perfect in every shot, that makes for a very diverse book.
Lady Gaga is all over the place in the photos here. Glammed, bloodied, painted, you name it. The sneak peek she shared on her Facebook page really was just the tip of the iceberg. There were a few shots that even had me open my eyes a little wider because they looked so good. Richardson did a phenomenal job capturing Gaga's style. I'm sorry that the video portion of my review isn't as good as it could've been- the lighting was poor and I was worried about the binding since all the copies I found seemed to be a bit weak, so I didn't open the pages as far as I'd have liked. Any big fan of Lady Gaga should get this book though. Over 300 pages of gorgeous photos for this price? That's a great deal. The only things keeping it from getting a full 5 stars are the binding issue and that I would've liked more close-ups of her face. I think Lady Gaga has one of the most real looking faces today, reminding me of Amy Winehouse (she's even said she dies her hair blonde so no one confused the two at first).
As far as photo books go, Lady Gaga x Terry Richardson is very good, and I'm glad it didn't try to be something it wasn't. I appreciate that there were no essays going on about the work that goes into the shots or wardrobe. This is nearly all photographs with little text. I highly recommend picking this up in the chance that it goes out of print like so many others have lately.

I give this book a strong 5 stars, it's a great book & a great price right now. I'm not really sure why some people have reviewed this book so poorly because 99% of the photo's in this book have never been seen before. There are a lot of photo's from the Monster ball tour but there are a lot of candid shots as well. If you are a Gaga fan or even just admire her, you will love this book. There are 450 plus photographs between Lollapalooza 2010 until the end of the Monster ball in 2011. If you're looking for something sugary & sweet w/ some bubblegum pop, this is not the book for you. This book is RAW & it shows how wild Gaga can be, but isn't that the whole point? She even said in an interview that she does the blood & the gore on purpose because the public wants to see a decaying pop Icon, the public wants to see her fail so she decided to beat everyone to the punch and show it herself. Also this book is not meant to be a Sex book otherwise it would be under mylar wraps, this book is to show a candid side of Gaga on the road. I'm definitely a Gaga fan not a fanatic but she's totally awesome. You'll appreciate this book if you appreciate Gaga's style of ART. End of Story...

I bought this book because I'm a fan of Terry Richardson's work more than of Gaga's, and the book is really affordable. Maybe if i knew more about Lady Gaga and followed her tour schedule I'd understand what was going on in the photos, know where they were taken, recognize the people with her. Since I don't, the lack of captions in this book is a major frustration. Are those her parents in some photos? Why is she crying? Is the blood smearing her body prop blood, or did she have an accident on stage? If you're a big fan you're probably sneering right now, but I'm a curious guy and really want to know. I love Terry's online diary, where the photos have simple captions to fill me in on his enviable life. On the plus side, I now know that Gaga has a great butt, and that she looks much better, younger, more vulnerable without the wigs and make-up. In my opinion those photos are the best, where you can see she's just an ordinary young girl, and I would have replaced the cover photo with the one of her lying in bed partially covered by messy sheets, her arm up over her head, looking right at the camera, almost like a young Marilyn. Sure would like to see that photo at full size... Photos like that really bring out a side of Gaga we never see, and that's where Terry's genius really lies.
