5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic old west-gypsy romance! April 25, 2005
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This second novel by Pam Crooks was a fabulous book! I read it in about a day. The heroine-a half white, half gypsy, Liza is a stong character whose faced adversity in her life but doesn't let it get her down-she always lived as Romany before the fateful day she comes to town to sell baskets, and her adventure begins there.

The hero is a self made railroad man, Reese-a friendly workaholic who is about to pop the question to the "perfect" but cold Rebecca Ann, before he meets the "imperfect" but loving Liza. The way the story is written from Liza's "fish out of water" perspective is fun and fresh.

Lot's of gypsy/Romany lore and tidbits-whether they are historically accurate, I don't know but they make the book very interesting. The books sidebar of overcoming prejudice is well done and the secondary characters are as well. The romance scenes are slightly sensual but not over done for those who don't do racy reads. The beautiful cover art by John Ennis is icing on the cake!

I'm looking forward to more from this author-5 stars!

Lisa a young gypsy virgin and Reece a railroad giant come together in a tornado and their relationship is a hard ride of learning to trust.
Lisa has a way with horses that gains her friends in the gaje community. Her loyalty gains even more from Reese. His love!
Reece has worked hard for his railroad. Fought for every inch of track and a steady way of life. The tornado has turned his world upside he had a life all planned out. Where did the feelings for Lisa come into play. Are they going to cost him everything?
Then there are the people around them. Braun the man who helped raise him, what does Reece owe him. The gypsy tribe and family that Lisa belongs too, what will they do do Lisa and Reece when they find them.
The story is great and is a fascinating read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved Lady Gypsy March 12, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Lady Gypsy keeps moving from the very start to ending. One of those that ended too soon. Left me wanting more of Liza and Reece's story. Much more. And more of Liza's family...siblings...especially Paprika. I laughed, I cried, and I fell in love with Liza/Lady Gypsy. Of course Reece stole my heart too. My kind of man. Great read and highly recommended.

More About the Author

Dear Reader,

Having grown up in the ranch country of western Nebraska, it was a natural evolution for me to write about the Old West, and I published fourteen historical western romances before writing my first romantic suspense, HER MOTHER'S KILLER. Now I've just released a boxed set of four of my popular romances, IN THE ARMS OF A COWBOY, four for the price of one! I'm a long-time member of Romance Writers of America, PASIC and RAH, my local chapter. I'm one of the founding fillies of Petticoats and Pistols, a popular blogsite for western romance.

In addition, I'm excited to have THE SPYGLASS PROJECT available! It's the first book in my new Secret Six series and is chock-full of Mafia, Prohibition, 1920s . . . love it! Check out the accompanying short story, too, IN THE ENEMY'S SHADOW. It's free!

I'm married to my high school sweetheart, Doug, and we have four daughters. I'm looking forward to an early retirement so I can spend my days with my children and grandchildren and do what I'm most passionate about: write books.
