Reese has set down roots deep in the Nebraska prairie. His long-held dreams are sure to come true with a budding railroad and a proper new wife and child.

Until their worlds collide . . .

But Liza is accused unfairly by Reese’s people, and she is forced to flee the security of her world to seek safety in his. When Reese’s careful plans for success and prosperity are threatened, he must fight to save all he’s ever worked for.

Will it cost him the love he’s found with the beautiful black-eyed woman with red-gold hair, his Lady Gypsy?

About the Author

Having lived in Nebraska her entire life, Pam developed a love for writing in the Old West era, but it wasn’t until she moved to Omaha, NE, that she discovered RWA and the sisterhood of romance writers. She also learned the true meaning of the words perseverance, tenacity, patience . . . and success.

Lady Gypsy is her second historical Leisure romance. Her debut novel, Wyoming Wildflower, released in March, is still available. A third, Hannah’s Vow, is slated for April, 2002.

Pam’s work has garnered her numerous awards, both writing and service, and she has held countless elected and volunteer positions within her local chapter. Most recently, she chaired the ten-state RWA Region 2 “Two Hearts” Conference for published and aspiring writers. Currently, she belongs to the RWA chapters of CAMEO, Prairieland Romance Writers, Kiss of Death and the international chapter, Outreach.

She writes full-time at home. She and her husband, Doug, have four beautiful daughters, one delightful son-in-law, and two meddlesome mutts.

More About the Author

Dear Reader,

While living a childhood in the ranch country of Nebraska's sandhills, I grew to love the Old West. It seems I've written forever about that era-from the time my four daughters were just toddlers, in fact. Now, I'm a grandmother (but a young one, right?)

When we moved to eastern Nebraska and after I discovered Romance Writers of America and my local chapter, I learned the nuts and bolts of the publishing business. I studied, wrote, got rejected and wrote some more. Gradually, I began to place in contests, then win them. My writing became good enough that an agent signed on to represent me. I kept writing, got more rejections, but persevered, until one day-at last!-I sold a manuscript to Dorchester Publishing for their Leisure Books line.

I went on to release four novels from Dorchester, and Harlequin Historicals picked me up with my fifth book. As you read this, I've released my fourteenth romance, and I'm currently working on a project that's new and different and quite exciting. Stay tuned.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little bit more about me!

Pam Crooks

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic old west-gypsy romance!, April 25, 2005
This review is from: Lady Gypsy (Mass Market Paperback)
This second novel by Pam Crooks was a fabulous book! I read it in about a day. The heroine-a half white, half gypsy, Liza is a stong character whose faced adversity in her life but doesn't let it get her down-she always lived as Romany before the fateful day she comes to town to sell baskets, and her adventure begins there.

The hero is a self made railroad man, Reese-a friendly workaholic who is about to pop the question to the "perfect" but cold Rebecca Ann, before he meets the "imperfect" but loving Liza. The way the story is written from Liza's "fish out of water" perspective is fun and fresh.

Lot's of gypsy/Romany lore and tidbits-whether they are historically accurate, I don't know but they make the book very interesting. The books sidebar of overcoming prejudice is well done and the secondary characters are as well. The romance scenes are slightly sensual but not over done for those who don't do racy reads. The beautiful cover art by John Ennis is icing on the cake!

I'm looking forward to more from this author-5 stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great historical novel by this author, March 22, 2011
This review is from: Lady Gypsy (Kindle Edition)
OK, I'm just thrilled to see this author offering so many of her novels on Kindle. Very exciting.

Like her other novels (especially Broken Blossoms), Lady Gypsy is completely historically accurate (like another reviewer supposed), which I very much appreciate (I'm a history buff). Liza--she's just the best lead character ever. I totally fell in love with her. She's funny and smart, but so vulnerable. She'll make you laugh and cry. And she's so beautiful!

And Reese. Reese! You'll fall in love with him, too. He's a self-made millionaire (railroad man). And...well, I won't give away any more of the story.

It's a wonderful read, very interesting and totally engrossing. Five stars from me.
