Book Description

Including a BRAND NEW exclusive sequel short story to celebrate the 25th anniversary of a much-loved bestseller, this new edition of Lady of Hay brings Barbara Erskine's eerie, atmospheric and utterly compelling story to a new generation. Lady of Hay has sold over three million copies. In London, high-flying journalist Jo Clifford is planning to debunk past-life regression in a hard-hitting magazine piece. But her scepticism is shaken when she undergoes hypnosis and finds herself reliving the experiences of Matilda, Lady of Hay, a noblewoman during the reign of King John. As she learns of Matilda's unhappy marriage, her love for the handsome Richard de Clare and the brutal threats of death at the hands of King John, it becomes clear that Jo's past and present are hopelessly entwined and that, eight hundred years on, a story of secret passion and unspeakable treachery is about to begin again! Celebrating the 25th anniversary of a much-loved bestseller, this new edition of Lady of Hay brings Barbara Erskine's eerie, atmospheric and utterly compelling story to a new generation.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Praise for LADY OF HAY: 'The author's storytelling talent is undeniable. Barbara Erskine can make us feel the cold, smell the filth and experience some of the fear of the power of evil men.' The Times 'Unusual, intriguing, cleverly handled and gripping.' The Good Book Guide 'Fascinating, absorbing, original -- all such praise comes easily when describing Barbara Erskine's Lady of Hay. But perhaps the most suitable world is hypnotic.' SHE 'Convincing and extremely colourful.' The Mail

Bought this book from amazon.com Kindle Store on 4th July 2011. I thought it expensive at 10.79 as it has been in print for 25 years. What a mistake. There are so many typos that it is difficult to read. I gave up at 75 percent as it was too distracting. This book was not edited at all! It should be recalled until the errors are corrected as it is a scam at this price. I subsequently downloaded The Witch of Prague for free and it is beautifully done. Come on Amazon you can do better!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute Page Turner and correct historical data, February 4, 2012
This review is from: Lady of Hay (Paperback)
Barbara Erskine has a PhD in Scottish history. You can look up all the historical details that she weaves into her stories and find them as being true. if you don't like the genre of books - a bit of fantasy is mixed with proven historical facts - then this book is not for you. If you like to learn about history by ways of a fantasy novel - you can't find anything better! One of my favorite books! And by the way: I read all of Barbara Erskine's books.

Great book but way too many errors in the edit. In fact it looks like no one has even looked at it. Spoils a good book.
