This review is from: Lady Jasmine: A Novel (Paperback)
Jasmine Lawson Bush is back. Was able to hold on that Hubby, Hosea after a lifetime of lies were revealed. First Lady Jasmine promises no more lies, no more secrets. The Jezbel life is over and done. She is now living for the Lord. Life would be wonderful if that was true for Jasmine. Jasmine proves yet again that like an animal when backed into a corner you come out scratching. To protect what yours how far would you go? Few more lies, blackmail, thoughts of having someone killed and even covering up a death. All these to protect those near and dear. To save a marriage, home, family even a life. This novel takes you there. Sistah got to do what a sistah got to do. Except Jasmine doesn't expect GOD to intervene. He never left her side. She wonders off. I really enjoyed turning the pages on this one. I think there had better be a sequel.
Hat's off to the pennmanship of Mrs. Victoria C. Murray. I have recommended it to all my friends.

Singing the praises of Lady J,
By Keleigh Crigler Hadley (author of the Preacher's Kids series) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Lady Jasmine: A Novel (Paperback)
How many of us believe that we have been "washed white as snow"?
Victoria Christopher Murray has aptly tapped into one of the greatest fears we as Christians have, and that is we will never be good enough for God. In Lady Jasmine we see the First Lady of the church succumb to one of Satan's greatest tricks and lies. Wonderfully written, we can identify with Jasmine's struggles and inner demons because we have all been there. Some of us don't make it back, and at one point I wondered if Jasmine would see the light. Which makes the story even better because it is not predictable. There are great unexpected twists that make this book inspiring, encouraging, and uplifting to Christians and non-Christians everywhere. I remember thinking while reading, that we all make mistakes. But the great part about it is that God allows us an opportunity to learn from our mistakes and move forward. Just because you fall down today, doesn't mean that tomorrow you must remain down. Ever slipped out in public and actually fell down? Jumped up real quick, didn't you? The next thing you did was looked around and prayed that nobody saw you. (Just a little side note to you--SOMEBODY always sees you.) Just as quickly as you bounced up from a "real" fall, you can bounce back from a figurative fall. In Jasmine's mind and so many other Christians minds, good Christians never fall. Unfortunately for most of us, we have to learn the hard way that is simply not true. I plan on passing this book on to a couple friends that are currently wondering if they are "good enough" to be Christians. I think Jasmine's testimony, trials, and triumph will serve as a great example that "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God", but Christ's love can redeem us. God don't like ugly,
By Reader Rabbit (Columbus, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lady Jasmine: A Novel (Paperback)
I'm sorry, but I just can't believe God would continue to bless someone who lies as much as Lady Jasmine does. And not just small lies, major ones. And the last time I checked, God also didn't like us doing His work which is just what Lady J did with the sheming she did in trying to keep her husband as senior pastor. And about her husband Hosea... I found him to be weak in spite of the author trying to make him seem strong for remaining with Jasmine. He was gullible beyond belief and just how many lies is he supposed to accept from this woman when he continues to say how hoensty and trust at the most important things to him? I have read all of the books about Jasmine and I have to say that I liked her less and less with each one. I only read this one because I thought she was finally going to change for real. But, I think she will continue to lie her way through anything and manipulate the husband who loves her unconditionally. Whether this is the last book about Miss Jasmine or not, it will be my last.

MORE LIES,
By
This review is from: Lady Jasmine: A Novel (Paperback)
Jasmine is back...again! Victoria Christopher Murray's LADY JASMINE brings back the woman we love to hate, Jasmin Larson Bush. Jasmine and her husband, Hosea, are living the good life until his father is in a tragic accident. With his father, Rev. Bush, unable to pastor City of Lights, Hosea has to step in as interim pastor. And that means that Jasmine is now the First Lady. She could not be more ecstatic. All of her lies are behind her and she is now living a wonderful life with her husband and their daughter, Jacquie. But are all of her lies really behind her? A blackmailer threatens to ruin all that the Bushes have worked so hard to achieve. Jasmine conveniently forgot a major piece of her past. This lie could not only affect Jasmine, but her husband and City of Lights as well. Should she tell Hosea the truth? Will she revert back to her old ways to cover up this lie?
Murray has such a way with telling her story. The twists and turns make for an unexpected edge to the story. You so want for Jasmine to finally get it right. But you know deep down that she will always be that woman that will have her past to haunt her. Murray is one of my favorite authors and will stay that way. I recommend this book to all of Murray's fans and to those looking for an entertaining read. Donnica Copeland APOOO BookClub Sista Talk Book Club

Tired of Jasmine,
By Y.S. Jessie "Pearli" (Beaumont, TX.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lady Jasmine: A Novel (Paperback)
Again with the lies and the drama!!! I know that GOD loves us all and forgives our sins, but when you keep making the same ones over and over and asking him to get you out of them time and time again, do you not realize that there will be consequences for your sins? Hosea's character is a wonderful Boaz type character, but I was beginning to agree with the members of the church about her character. Her only reasons for wanting to be the first lady was the prestige/power that went along with it, plus the money to be made and she constantly manipulated her husband for those reasons alone. I am frankly tired of her character and will not read anymore books where she is the key character. And to blackmail that woman instead of beign the bigger person and her desire to want to fight EVERYONE that ever spoke the truth to her or acted in the very same manner towards her husband that she did to both him and his father before him was ridiculous.
She also took matters into her own hands and handled the "bad guys" in a duplicitious manner instead of allowing GOD to handle it. And the manner in which the politician and the "jack-legged Preacher" who was not who he was supposed to be were a bit rushed at the end with their demises. No one catches a predator that easily and no true criminal allows themselves to be browbeat by someone who also has a tawdry reputation themselves. I am a hug fan of Mrs. Murray's, but I hate how she rushes her endings and does not fully wrap them up sufficiently.

JASMINE, HOPEFULLY, FINALLY THE END!,
By BETZ "betz1" (Orlando, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lady Jasmine: A Novel (Paperback)
LADY JASMINE -- Same plot as all the other books in the series, plenty of deceit, secrets, and vindictiveness, so much so the book was unbelieveable, even as fiction, certainly not Christian Fiction. Hopefully this is the end of the series, if not, it should be.

Jasmine's Back!,
This review is from: Lady Jasmine: A Novel (Paperback)
Jasmine's back, and this time she's not the one causing havoc in people's lives. This time someone is blackmailing her. In Too Little, Too Late, Jasmine promised her husband Hosea that she had told him all of her secrets, including her real age, weight, and even her real shoe size. But there was something that completely slipped her mind that happened in 1983. Jasmine is on pins and needles trying to figure who could've dug something like this up. It couldn't have come at a worse time because Hosea's father Reverend Bush was shot in the parking lot of his church. With trying to figure out who's trying to blackmail her and Rev. Bush on life support, Jasmine's life begins to spin out of control. She will stop at nothing to make sure this secret stays in the past and doesn't disrupt her present and future. Will Jasmine figure out who's trying to destroy her life, or will she have to leave the family she has come to love?
Victoria Christopher Murray has done it again. Murray has done an outstanding job with Lady Jasmine. She never ceases to amaze me with the new angles that she takes Jasmine's character. Murray has developed Jasmine from a conniving, manipulative woman into a saved Christian that will stand by her family no matter what. Even though she admits she has changed, Jasmine still will take matters into her own hands to make sure she gets the outcome that she wants. Lady Jasmine is a fast-paced read, and if you're not paying attention to something, you'll definitely miss it. Reviewed by Jackie for Urban Reviews

Tired of Lady Jasmine,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lady Jasmine: A Novel (Paperback)
I am a fan of Victoria Christopher Murray's books, I've read all of them. Yet I must admit when I finished this one, I tossed it to the side. The book felt rushed, and the plot was just plain corny. The "big secret" she was keeping from her husband just didn't seem like something all that bad, especially after the things she's done in the past. I think it's time to retire the Lady Jasmine story line, it seems that VCM is running out of good, solid stories for her.
