5.0 out of 5 stars Crook Nabs a Womanizer, April 6, 2011
By
This review is from: Lady Killer (Hardcover)
Anthony Gilbert was actually a female:
Lucy Beatrice Malleson. I would never
have guessed. She wrote alot of true
thrillers.
This is about a very handsome guy in his 30's who seeks out females that age or older who have some money and only themselves to support and wines and dines them These are ladies who until they met this handsome guy otherwise had little or no chance of
ever marrying and would give their right foot to find a man. this guy goes by different names with each female he meets. The ladies have money
but no relatives so he figures why cant
he have it. AS he tires of each one
and has gotten their money turned over
to him to manage and also be the
beneficiary of eachin her will...well
you might be able to guess what happens
after he,s through cleaning them out..
he has a little cottage way outside of
London; no one lives around it. his
new bride is thrilled with her little
honeymoon cottage. One of the ladies
he conned was a bit smarter than the
rest and she had to endure hell before
she was rescued and it will be obvious
to Gilbert fans who rescued her-none
other than the famous Harry Crook;
larger than life; drives a monstrosity
of a car he ca lls "the Scourge".
Every policeman has heard of Arthur
and his Scourge. Arthur was actually
a lawyer who operated mostly just
outside the law. If the police were
perplexed by a case they would go to
Arthur-he could find out things the
police could not. He was furious with
this womanizer and vowed he would get
him if it was the last thing he did.
Crook: Stormed at by shot and shell,
right to the gates of hell; crook on
the trail as well..
...and Crook, you know, always gets his man.
