This 2004 release from the Swedish band, Black Bonzo, is a great album in the classic/prog rock genre. I am a fan of 70s rock in all of its various forms. For those of you who miss greatly arranged, complex rockers, you should check this album out. These guys can actually play their instruments very well. The use of mellotron and Hammond is a refreshing break from today's lackluster rock. Great guitar and keyboard solos. Great singing. Great drumming. I eagerly await another release from this band.

Every time I fire this album up, I'm amazed all over again that a new band can so faithfully capture an era. At the same time, every track on this album feels fresh and fun to listen to today.
The Hammond organ is prominent and that's a good thing, since heavy rock keyboards make me happy. The drumming is more than beat, it's artistry, it's lyrical, and in contributes to the story the music is telling. I also quite like the lead singer's voice - a crowd pleasing tenor, clear and strong. The opening track takes off right away with a killer rock shuffle beat. But the band doesn't shy away from some slower songs and trippy moments. Someone told me if you like Uriah Heep you will like this, and I've since listened to a bunch of the Heep - I was ignorant before - and they were right. If you like them, try this, you won't be disappointed.
