I need up wanting to know what happened to Hans and Karl, but otherwise this was one of those can't put it down books. I was really caught up wishing that I could go online and find myself a Charles. Sigh. This story had war and showed, in the way of romantic fiction, the horrors, but it really showed the steadfastness and loyalty of friends, companions and even kind strangers. I had this book on my Kindle for quite a while before I decided to read it, but when the moment was right, it became an unforgettable romantic read.

I like this book and you will too. The story takes place in Poland during the war with Napoleon Bonaparte trying to invade the country. The scenes of war are totally enthralling and real. The main man is a British spy who takes on the responsibility of rescuing a woman after her friends are murdered by the French. She knows the man is the enemy because he's wearing a French uniform. Catherine Marsh can't figure out the handsome officer who helped her during her darkest time in her young life. She promises her murdered friend that she will get to Moscow to find the children and return them to their father who is Russian count. Captain Charles Von Hardt is trying to infiltrate the enemy's line and get secret information on Napoleon troops movements. Catherine and Charles go on a adventure and find love along the way.
