Almost everything you wanted to know about the tri-canyon area...,

There is a lot of history in the tri-canyon area and (unfortunately) a lot of interesting details had to be left out to keep it to reasonable length but Keller did a good job of organizing the fascinating, sometimes vague or conflicting records of the past into an accessible account. Finding out why some of the areas are named what they are is especially interesting - especially having been to most of them and wondering about it myself.
The only (and very minor) gripe is that if I wanted to find out about just one area, I had to remember all of the many other in the book that I'd read about it, find them, and put all of the pieces together: A slightly more comprehensive index would help in that. Although it has a lot of pictures, more would be nice to help visualize what some of the familar areas looked like a century (or more) ago...

I haven't had a chance to read this book yet, but having grown up in the places he writes about and having heard about the book from on the authors personal friends, I was enticed to buy the book. Having skimmed sections and looked through some of the old pictures, I'm excited to read it. I'm currently reading a historical account of the mining town gone ski town, Park City, Utah, which has a similar history to what this account presents. So far, so good. I'd recommend it if you want to know more about the history of Utah, especially regarding the areas that are now known as some of the world's greatest ski destinations.

Whoever borrowed "Lady in the Ore Bucket" from me never brought it back. I have used the book to separate fact from the fiction I have ingested hearing local stories during the 74 years I have lived in the Salt Lake Valley. Also, it is delightful to climb to Green's Valley or other spots where families homsteaded or tried to live near the myriad of mines in the three canyons. Also, compelling were the detailed maps in the back. Unfortunately, the paperback version maps are not as readable as the maps in the hardback.
The language is clear and easy reading. The sources make me confident the content is verifiable.
