Something truly original!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lady is a Pirate (Audio CD)
Singer/songwriter Megan Slankard is a unique talent. Her first album, "Lady is a Pirate" is a big, fun acoustic bag of tricks. Her catchy, percussive playing style, lilting vocals and clever lyrics are an absolutely addicting combination. This album will fast become a favorite. Keep an eye out for her newest effort, the slickly styled "Freaky Little Story" due out in September 2003.

Great Indie-Folk-Rock from a Promising Young Star,
By Troy J Shadbolt (California, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lady is a Pirate (Audio CD)
Megan Slankard is an acoustic singer-songwriter who performs around 200 gigs a year. Her songcraft is diverse and mature, far more mature than her 18 years. An accomplished guitarist, Megan needs little more than her guitar and her voice (somewhat reminiscient of Jewel) to get her point across. While acoustic folk at heart, Megan can perform some impressive blues (and sing it!) as well as getting down to some serious pop rock.I highly reccomend Megan to anyone that enjoys indie folk and be prepared for some great songs by this extremely talented young lady. You too will be able to say that you were in on the "ground floor" of this artist whose star will soon be on the rise.

This was an incredible CD, all the more remarkable for a first effort. It is pretty much just Megan on an acoustic guitar, with only some bass for backup, performing a unique amalgam of folk and jazz.
