"Birds Of Prey" is based on several DC comic titles of the same name, starring computer-savvy Barbara Gordon, a.k.a. Oracle, Helena Kyle, a.k.a. Huntress, and Dinah Redmond (known as Black Canary in the comics). Together, they make up the Birds Of Prey, protectors of New Gotham after the legendary Batman has seemingly retired. Oracle heads the group, who make their headquarters in the top of a New Gotham landmark, the clock tower. The acting is quite good, the look and cinemaphotography is also well done, and the development of the storylines are very similar to those found in the comics.

First of all, this show does not follow the DC universe continuity in its entirety. The biggest difference is the fact that Helena is the daughter of Bruce Wayne/Batman and Catwoman/Selina Kyle as opposed to being the daughter of members of the Italian mob. Though this may come as a shock in the first episode, it seems to be just as good as a backstory for this Helena as the comics' version.

The wonderful character of Harley Quinn is also here for the first and so far only official small screen appearance. Unlike the comics, her character is much smarter and more of a calculating psychopath, yet the core reason of her character's existence, her love for "Mista J" is still here (along with the blonde hair).

Even though this series was cancelled after a short run, it did a good job of attempting to pull in audiences who might not be familiar with the Birds Of Prey comics by showing how Batman, Joker, and Batgirl--all well known characters--played a major role in the backstory of this series.

This was a great show that I enjoyed when it first aired on TV, then bought the complete series a few years ago to share with my Daughter. A great introduction to some of the strong heroines of DC Comics. Lots of action and interesting story lines. Unfortunately, it was cancelled WAY too soon and never had the opportunity to answer all of the questions that had arisen. Definitely worth watching & owning!

Great show. Cancelled way too soon. It has a great female cast without pushing the feminism TOO far. I love the play on the story lines and I'd recommend it for any DC lovers: man or woman. After all, who can resist hot girls in leather?

My 10 year old daughter loves this series. She's spent hours watching and rewatching every episode. Strange since she doesn't watch much TV and even stranger since its sci-fy.

Although I had high hopes for this show, I find it's production and directing too schmaltzy. Kick ass actresses in the cast, yes, but over acted and in need of a stronger hand in the direction. Perhaps it's a decade trend in this production, perhaps I've been spoiled by Dark Knight and Christopher Nolan. Either way, this show is OK, but not as good as I'd like.
