A side-scroller? Fun?,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lady Sia (Video Game)
When I started playing this, I was somewhat disappointed by its mindless side-scrolling hack-and-slash action. It seemed a lot like Donkey Kong Country with a somewhat more attractive protagonist (if you want to argue this point, go right on ahead). However, for some reason, I can't seem to stop playing! I am at a loss to explain it, but it must be good then, right? The first thing you'll probably notice about Lady Sia is that it's pretty tough. You aren't able to take a whole lot of damage, and there's plenty of things to deal it out to you. I've never been able to pass a level without dying at least once (yes, I even bought it on the first one), and oftentimes the only way to get past all the obstacles is to simply memorize where they are and what to do. There are, however, quite a few ways you can go about defeating your enemies. You can use magic, special moves, or just charge in and hack them all up. Sometimes you get to ride a big white bird that can pick up guys and drop them into the ubiquitous abyss that has been a mainstay of these games since Super Mario Bros. came out. When it comes down to it, Lady Sia has decent graphics and an odd charm, and is worth your investment of time and effort. The plot might be a bit simple, but it doesn't seem to be a big issue even for an RPG fan like myself. This game isn't an experiment in subtlety or revolutionary gameplay. It's a classic arcade sidescroller with good old hack-and-slash action.

Sia Warrior Princess, Disney Cartoonish and side scrolling,
By Jeff Johnson "Jeff Johnson" (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lady Sia (Video Game)
Welcome to the world of Sia, Warrior Princess! A side scrolling animated adventure, as you of course are Lady Sia on a mission, saving hostages, collecting diamonds and going against the bad guys of your castle realm! Keep in mind, because this is an animated type game, these "bad guys" are bears with swords, rouge mice, giant bee men and so on. The bad guys also number in the 100s, and you can only slash them, so it gets very boring and tedious! The game is solid, it has a rich plot for kids to follow easily, and between levels is a very good animated story to show what's happening. The animation is incredible, but it looks like your watching a cartoon when you play (Disney cartoonish). Which may shut out older players, along with the fact that the game is quite easy to play and get the hang of, jump and slash that's it! Because of that fact it gets very tough on the thumbs! Ouch. Bottom line is fantastic for children, but then for older players, please skip it.

Super Valis IV never made it to GBA, so . . .,

This review is from: Lady Sia (Video Game)
Lady Sia can battle seemingly impossible odds with ease. No task is too difficult for her. Unfortunately, she's just a video game character. After searching for a used copy of Super Valis 4 for what seemed like an eternity, I finally found one . . . then I heard about this game. I decided I wasn't going to make the same mistake twice, and it wasn't rentable in my location so I just bought the dawm game. Not a mistake on my part, but definitely more difficult than I had hoped for. The game is fun, yes, but excruciatingly hard. In the first few levels, you'll find yourself -should you play this game- adjusting to constant enemy attacks. The hard parts come in the later levels, with constant falling and unreliable bubbles that pop and drop you just a little too soon. The controls are flawless unless you're a nitpicker, the graphics are nice, and the animation is almost like water -- that's a good thing. The only real problem with the game is that it has a difficulty level comparable to the Contra games. I saw Lady Sia 2 listed in Nintendo Power magazine. If there really is going to be a sequel, I hope they make the necessary improvements. As for the story; You, as Lady Sia, are upset that a gang of misfits called Tsoas are ruining your towns and your council refuses to do anything about it. As you progress, you'll recieve some weapon upgrades, turn into monsters, and face some of your council. Oh. In case you're wondering, these are the basic controls:

A fun new story in a familiar package,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lady Sia (Video Game)
A typical 2D game, the gameplay in Lady Sia is full of jumping, slashing, shooting, and finding your way though a maze filled with a variety of baddies. The twist is that the game shows of the 32-bit platform well. As in classic cell animation, there are several layers of animation which give an illusion of depth as they scroll at different rates. The puzzles are challenging, but you have the chance to go back and retry levels you've already finished. (This is really nice once you get your sword and ring back!) Finish all the levels in a world with ratings of 100, and you get access to hidden worlds. Not too tough, but not too simple either.

Action...Adventure...Five Star Game!,

Recently I came across this game by chance and decided to give it a try. Surprisingly,I found it to be one of the best games I've played in quite awhile! For an earlier GBA game,Lady Sia has good graphics. There are the occasional errors, such as Sia going through walls in certain places, but this is the only glitch I know of. The game itself functions well. It's easy to pick up and really hard to put down! You'll easily get the hang of the controls. Although they're a bit hard to use at first,as you play you'll get better. Anyways, back to the graphics. For the most part, they're average. Some scenes tend to be a bit sketchy, but most of the graphics are colorful, enjoyable and of acceptable quality. As for the actual gameplay,it's most enjoyable! The action/adventure story is highly entertaining. The game is just challenging enough, with a reasonable balance between storyline dialogue and straight gameplay. It's not so easy you can finish it in just hours of buying time, but it's not so hard it's impossible. It provides entertainment for hours on end! Plus, there's plenty of replay value in trying to get perfect scores to unlock new levels. For the most part you can figure things out on your own by hacking your way through levels, but there are a few puzzles to be solved. The music is repetetive, but provides nice background sound for each level. The storyline of the game is interesting, though not extremely detailed. When coupled with the active gameplay,it makes for a great game! Actually,I was first attracted to the game when I found out it featured a girl. I have nothing against male stars, but most female-oriented games I've found star people like Barbie and Kim Possible. I was very excited and pleased when I found Sia to be an original game with its own heroine. Overall,Lady Sia is one of the greatest GBA games I've played yet! Its challenges are just right and its action/adventure theme makes for exciting gameplay. The story is fast-paced and creative, accompanied by original characters. I highly reccomend this for all fantasy game lovers out there!

Beautiful Graphics and Great Game,

This game was a nice surprise. I took a chance because it had been discounted. (The register even rang it up less than the price tag!) I'm always afraid of shelling out money for a bad game. This is one of the better games I've seen for the GBA, and I was surprised at the level of detail in the graphics. Other games look nice, but I guess they haven't been pushing the limits of what the GBA can do. I'm no game expert. I'm someone who enjoys but struggles with most games. This game does present a decent amount of challanges. You do have to get your timing just right. (I do feel as if I'm stating the obvious here.) The game is easy to control, but the game is a little picky about how you line up to ladders when you want to climb them - when compared to some of the other games like this. If you enjoy side-scrolling action/adventure games, I would highly recommend this one.

A Full Game Of Adventure And Destiny,

This review is from: Lady Sia (Video Game)
Lady Sia is an action pack of adventure! You play as the warrior princess Lady Sia. This game poses hours of fun. The graphics are as good as they come, and the controls are not that hard to use. As you get into higher levels the harder the bosses become. There are 20 bosses total. Lady Sia is one of the best gameboy advanced games I have ever bought and played. This game is worth using up some money. Though some people may not like this game a whole lot, in my opinion this game is just the right thing to satisfy my wanting of good adventure games.

Lady Sia: Great platform game,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Lady Sia (Video Game)
Lady Sia is a fun platform game. You r Sia a warrior princess who has to fight beastmen called T'soas. The graohics r good and colorful and looks greAT. For attacking you use a sword and u can shoot energy balls. This game is not too hard, but it will give you if you play nonstop hours of fun. The challenge is finishing the level with good ratings . If u get good ratings on all the levels in a world, u unlock a hidden level. I thougt this game was OK nothing spectacular but pretty cool.

Great gameplay and excellent graphics underscore this often-overlooked platformer for the Game Boy Advance. The player assumes the identity of Lady Sia, the title heroine who must fight the T'soa horde and save her kingdom and her allies.
The quality of this game is on par with other well-known platformers, and the animation of every character and level background is a real sight to see. The sound and music tracks are appropriate for the actions and levels, with catchy beats guiding players throughout the game. If you like platformers and need a new title for your GBA library, consider picking up Lady Sia. Its a good platformer thats worth the money.

Lady Sia is a good game, but a little fustration comes into play. In case you haven't noticed, when you stop, Lady Sia slips a little bit, so be on your toes.As for glitches, the game is full of 'em.Try running into the back of the dungeon in the castle stage. A wall will cover you up. It isn't good 4 anything and most wouldn
't call it a "glitch", but it's a nice feature. Also, being a girl gamer, I favor the fact that the main character is a GIRL for once! Try this on for size. if you do a combo move something like B R R, you get an awsome move! The slice one will go straight through pesky sheilded T'soas. Some are snorsville, still, like the simple punch combo. My favorite combo move is where you do a colorful flip in the air. I can't beat the air girl or the fire guy, though.(in the second stage) Yet,alas, you can only do this after you get your jade sword, though. get the sword before the ring! It helps! To get the sword, go sneak past the sleeping T'soas, go down the well, go to the lower passage, hit the down arrow to proceed past the spikes, get to the water, wait for somthing to float your way, ride it,ride the fountain up, and use the long row of sheilded T'soas as combo practice. have fun!!!:-) |
