2.0 out of 5 stars Very Disagreeable Heroine!, December 15, 2011

This review is from: The Lady Who Hated Shakespeare (Mass Market Paperback)
I have enjoyed Ms. Carroll's other books very well, I thought this book with such an unique title might just be another interesting read. Far from it, it was so different from author's usual writing and style that I questioned if this was done by the same person. All the characters (maybe not the hero) were somewhat exaggeratedly portrayed, their thinking and behaviors were a bit outrageous to be believable. And the heroine, was one person I really hated. Through out the book, she was in a bad temper, foul mood; she was easily upset, quick to judge; often found in one kind of scrape or another... I was baffled as what did Miles Renwick really saw in Cordelia to have him fall for her? I started to skipping from page 40, if that tells you anything. Disappointed.

From back of the book: Really, it was the outside of enough! Not only did Cordelia Renwick's bokish father intend to spend his summer engrossed in Shakespeare, but he invited his insufferable nephew to Stratford into the bargain. And though Cordelia grudgingly admitted that Miles Renwick cut quite the dashing figure, one more Shakespearean in the house was one too many for her. She vowed to take refuge in the company of the much-sought-after Lord Peter Walsing. But as the summer wore on, it became clear that something was rottin in the estate of Walsing and Miles might still win Cordelia's heart--if he could save her pretty neck...
