Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Ladyhawk sing about life and love. They're rockers and dreamers, still trapped in their apple country teenage minds, looking for girls and kicks, and mining their teenage quarries from the inside-out. This debut is a stomping and sweaty ride through the Vancouver streets they all know, as viewed from the seats of a bruised and doorless Astro Van. Ladyhawk's core is bracing rock. Neil Young's "Tonight's The Night" is the hailstorm on the hood of The Replacements' "Let It Be", while distorted guitars invoke the thread and swerve of Silkworm and Dinosaur Jr. It'll be hard to find a more hauntingly beautiful set of rock music than this debut.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ladyhawk Ladyhawk, July 19, 2006
I Love Ladyhawk.

Sonically and lyrically, this album is one of the more raw and honest albums I've ever heard. Each song is solid, and I can't quite put my finger on it but they're definately doing something right. Although they carry a distinctly independent sound, what they lack in overall catchiness they make up for in emotional depth. And they just might be good (and unpretentious) enough to possess that killer mainstream appeal - this band could be huge. This band will be huge.

Thank you Ladyhawk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, Honest Rock, February 13, 2008
Everyone else on here is correct, these guys rock hard and they do so without appearing cliched. It's kind of strange because this isn't usually the kind of music I listen to, I'm more into indie pop bands, less hard rock. But these guys have become one of my favorite bands.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite Canadian band, May 29, 2007
By C. Gremillion (Tucson, Sonora) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Just listening to the tracks available online doesn't give you a real sense of the versatility of Ladyhawk; you just have to buy the album. Tracks like "Sad Eyes/Blue Eyes" and "New Joker" are the true stand-outs for the intelligent songwriting they are capable of. And even though "Long 'Til the Morning" has a beautiful, dark Blues sound, the band still shows that they're very capable of bringing that pop sensibility to the table.
This is a great album (one of the best of 2006, I think), and the band puts on a great live show when they come down from their cold Canadian home.

5.0 out of 5 stars RIYL Bob Mould
Very similar to Bob Mould -- especially to his Sugar efforts (which you should also acquire) - with a touch of IRS label REM. File this one under mellow, indie rock. Read more
