Henri Desire Landru was short and bald and wore an old-fashioned beard. He looked vaguely like Toulouse-Lautrec - but with a very different talent all his own. In a few short years he seduced, by actual count, 169 women - many of them war widows of World War I. All of this amorous intrigue, however, was merely the prelude to his real occupation, which was murder for money. Dennis Bardens is the only writer to have obtained access to the complete files of Landau and his victims in the French Prefecture of Police.
