Lady Sorcha Macleod is certain that the man her sister Adela loves, the dashing Scottish Knight Templar Sir Hugo Robinson, is the masked rider who kidnaps Adela on her wedding day. When she learns he is not, she sets off to rescue Adela with Hugo in hot pursuit. On the road with the irrepressible Sorcha, Hugo soon discovers a woman of fire and beauty, a woman he longs to touch and taste-but his honor forbids it, because he is bound by his vow to marry Adela. 3.0 out of 5 stars A Fair Historical Read, November 25, 2006
Lady Sorcha Macleod is attending her sister's wedding when the bride is abducted by a masked rider. She believes it is Sir Hugo Robison a Scottish Knight Templar who she believes is smitten with her sister who has taken her for himself. She along with everyone else is stunned when Hugo does arrive and it is understood he did not take the bride. Now together Sorcha and Hugo race to rescue Adela. The forced intimacy of their rescue attempt makes Hugo very aware of the spirit and beauty of Sorcha. He should be with the one sister but he wants Sorcha. Neither one of them realize that they are pawns in a much bigger plot and eventually they will have to face the passion that burns between them.

Ms. Scott's story has a great deal of potential and will probably satisfy long time fans that have started this series at the beginning. As a stand alone effort this is a bit shaky although it still entertains. Sorcha and Hugo are fair protagonists and their adventure includes Sidony and Sir Michael making this a family affair. Ms. Scott has filled the pages with wonderful historic details which adds to the story telling. Scotland will jump off the pages for the reader. Sorcha is a strong heroine and really came alive on the pages. Hugo is truly a wonderful knight. The secondary storyline of Adela with her captor at times threatened to overrun the romance making it a bit heavy at times. Still this was a fine historical romance. For CK2S Kwips and Kritiques

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good if you don't have any other 5 star books to read, August 15, 2006
Scott has been writing a series of well-told, entertaining books centering on hidden treasure protected by the Scottish descendants of the Knights Templar. This one is no exception. However, these characters can be frustrating. Sorcha, her heroine, is one of those young women you may or may not like. She's spunky and daring, but can also be seen to be immature. Hugo, her hero, is also slightly frustrating because he is a bit of a male chauvinist, and therefore, high-handed in his treatment of Sorcha. Needless to say, they fight constantly. Scott included these characters in previous books, so she was bound by character traits and personalities she had already given them. These two weren't my favorite. But, this series of books is pretty riveting. Adela, the next sister in line to be given a story, will be more interesting and likeable, I'm certain.

LADY'S CHOICE by Amanda Scott
August 26, 2006

Amazon rating 4/5

"This continues a series by Amanda Scott in 1300s Scotland, following the Macleod family. Lady's Choice, focuses on the second to youngest daughter, Lady Sorcha Macleod. Her older sister Adela has just been kidnapped by a man unknown to them during her wedding. While at first everyone believes the mystery man to be Hugo Robinson - the man Sorcha has been telling everyone is Adela's true love - wedding guests soon learn that the kidnapper is unknown to them. When Hugo appears after the wedding ceremony, with no knowledge of Adela, Sorcha is blamed for the kidnapping, since she attempted to get Hugo and Adela together, assuming they were in love. Her father is angry, and Sorcha decides to take it upon herself to rescue her sister.

Thus begins an adventure that involves Sorcha, her youngest sister Sidony, and eventually Sir Michael (married to pregnant sister Lady Isobel) and Hugo and their men, as they try to rescue Adela from Michael and Hugo's evil cousin Waldron. The story goes back and forth between Sorcha's adventures - including her budding romance with Hugo - and scenes that focus on Adela and her captor. What ensues with Adela and Waldron is very interesting, as she is conflicted, almost coming to a point where she subconsciously cares for him, thus confusing her rescuers. Has Adela decided to take Waldron's side, or is she merely bluffing and biding her time till Hugo and Sorcha rescue her?" -- Complete review at Bookloons - M. Lofton

Another epic read, LADY'S CHOICE continues the stories of the MacLeod sisters, and tells the tale of Sorcha and Hugo. There is one more novel in this series, which I am hoping to read when it is published. The author does a good job with her historical research and the reader will get a good feel of what it might have been like living back in the 1300's in old Scotland. Those who enjoy adventure with their romances, LADY'S CHOICE is the book to read.
