With so little information out there, this book is a must-have! There is not a ton of readily-available information regarding Lafayette Park, in Detroit. This book covers the conceptualization by Ludwig Hilberseimer, and the buildings' design by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. It also talks about Alfred Caldwell, the landscape designer, and how much he really contributed to the project (much more than we realize). The book discusses how these multiple ideologies merged into the site Lafayette Park became. The book contains many, many photos, including site plan sketches and conceptual sketches - very priceless. The photos of the site and buildings are of very nice quality, ranging from being taken back in the late 1950s to today in the 2000s. The information contained within the book's pages is very good too - enough information, and enough photos. I've encountered too many books that were mostly photos with captions - not going to help if I want to learn about the subject... But this book is perfect; I highly recommend it.

This small book is a gem. It was a surprise to know about this project and how well it has withstood time. Pity is not bigger, with more before and after pictures.
