I bought this machine directly from Laguna, and not through Amazon. It sat in our garage untried for about 14 months (past the warranty period) until I had a furniture project that required use of it. I immediately had a negative experience with it: I wasn't able to make acceptable mortises. I contacted Laguna and they had me perform a number of measurements to identify the problem as chuck runout. Laguna agreed that the runout was a problem and quickly sent me a new chuck, but it was no better. Laguna contacted their Chinese supplier, but the response (in broken English) was that my chucks met their internal manufacturing specs. The Laguna rep promised to pursue the problem further, but I heard nothing for about 6 weeks. Eventually, I got a message from Laguna saying they had visited their supplier and were sending me a chuck that they hoped would solve my problem. Unfortunately, the runout was again no better with the new chuck.

Finally, when I made it known that I was unhappy and tired of waiting for a solution, Laguna generously responded by agreeing to take back the machine and refund my money! Although I've had only this one experience with their hardware, I'm sure many of their products are quality machines. And I have a new respect for Laguna as a company that backs their products, even to the point of accepting an out-of-warranty return.

I bought one from Laguna, not through Amazon. Its a total POS. Spend the money of a Felder and you will be happy. Cheap components and stamped steel frame rocks wildly under even a little load, so none of your mortises some out clean... NONE! I've worked as an independent professional woodworker for 6 years now... not that long, but long enough, having gone through a number of cabinet shops and then school. I want to get rid of mine, but feel like it would be doing someone else a disservice. I'll probably just keep the motor and scrap the rest.
