5.0 out of 5 stars Been a good little printer/scanner for me
I've had this printer/scanner for a couple of years or so and haven't had a bit of trouble with it. Before this one I had a couple of Epson printers. Those were so so printers but died in about a year.
When I first got this HP combo scanner/printer I wasn't too sure of it. But it prints nice photos and if you got the time and put it on its highest quality setting...

2.0 out of 5 stars It's eh... mediocre
A little aggravating... with this machine you constantly have to hand feed the paper/envelopes into it, it's constantly saying it's either out of paper, there is a carriage jam, or there is a paper jam. Put it this way, you can't just hit print and walk away. You have to babysit. Maybe with the envolopes, I could understand, but if you want to print out a 40 page...

I've had this printer/scanner for a couple of years or so and haven't had a bit of trouble with it. Before this one I had a couple of Epson printers. Those were so so printers but died in about a year.
When I first got this HP combo scanner/printer I wasn't too sure of it. But it prints nice photos and if you got the time and put it on its highest quality setting it will print 8.5 x 11 portraits that look just as good as professional photographers work.
It will do beautiful 4x6 prints without taking up a lot of time or ink. The ink cartridges are very easy to change and you can trade them in for refills at Office Depot or get the same ones refilled at Walgreens for a lot less then buying new ones.
It has several different size slots for different size and types of memory cards from different camera's. Its supposed to be able to make prints directly from the memory card without the use of the computer or even having the computer turned on. I haven't tried that feature yet with mine. But it does work as a copier without the computer having to be turned on. It will scan and print in color or black and white. Its a little slower than a regular copy machine but works just as good for a home office.
Over all for what I paid for mine, about $125 at Circuit City, and for what I need to use it for, I'm very pleased with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great All-In-One Printer, March 11, 2009
This review is from: Lahp Hp Psc1610 23ppm Blk18ppm Clr (Electronics)
It's a great printer and hasn't disappointed me in the last 4 years I've had it. It does what it has to do. Although the copy feature is a little slow sometimes, I'm not complaining because I rarely use that feature. And I found that the photo quality's pretty darn good for Normal Quality. I always forget to set it at high so I have no idea how High Quality photos look. I've never used the memory card reading feature so I don't know how that works. However, I have used the scanner quite a bit and I must say it scans beautifully. Wonderful Printer. I'm never unhappy with HP. =)

I really like this little printer/scanner/copier, and it's perfect for most of my needs--small runs of print jobs, a few copies from time to time. I've never printed pictures, but imagine it will do as well as it does on its other functions.

Good things:
It's fuss free and very user-friendly. I've never had a paper jam, prints are very clear, and it's pretty quiet.

The only drawbacks are:
1. It uses up color cartridges really fast.
2. The copy speed is maddeningly slow.

Still, for the price, it's a great asset to my office.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do Not Buy!, March 19, 2010
This review is from: Lahp Hp Psc1610 23ppm Blk18ppm Clr (Electronics)
I had an HP printer before this one and it was garbage too. This one worked for maybe a year with no issues then it became the worst printer ever. Constant Paper Jams, "Out of Paper" messages when it's full of paper. False starts, abrupt stops for no reason. Page after page of gibberish font for no reason.

I'm at the point now where I have to hand feed it one sheet of paper at a time and guaranteed it jams, then says out of paper then maybe it will print.

Don't waste your time or money, everyone I know has issues with HP printers, I'm going out right now and buying another brand.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's a piece of junk, February 24, 2008

I owned the printer for 1 year 2 months, then it started saying "paper jam" every time I tried to print. I checked the web and this is a common problem. Search the web yourself for PSC 1610 and "paper jam" and you'll see this is a major flaw with no fix available. One site I read even said that an HP tech support person had told the author that this machine has a design flaw. I will never buy or recommend an HP product again.

A little aggravating... with this machine you constantly have to hand feed the paper/envelopes into it, it's constantly saying it's either out of paper, there is a carriage jam, or there is a paper jam. Put it this way, you can't just hit print and walk away. You have to babysit. Maybe with the envolopes, I could understand, but if you want to print out a 40 page document, you can't just walk away... I have done that and have learned the hard way that you'll be up until 3 am making sure each sheet goes in properly and that it gets printed out. I realize it's not a $1,000.00 printer/copier, but it should do what it's supposed to do right? I would not buy another one of these unless I absolutely had to... and probably would from a different manufacturer. I love HP products... but this one tanks. Not happy with this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst. Printer. Ever., September 12, 2010

Get ready to do the "Out of Paper/Paper Jam" dance with this piece of junk. I just do not have the Zen personality to handle all of the problems with this printer. I give it one star because Amazon won't let me give it a "zero."

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite Printer, March 13, 2010
This review is from: Lahp Hp Psc1610 23ppm Blk18ppm Clr (Electronics)
This is the first printer I have ever had. There are still special features that I haven't taken time to learn. What I have learned...and I am NOT a computer person....I can make pretty Christmas cards. Pictures that are 50 yrs.old print up very nice. My only complaint would be that the ink runs out eventually. I would like that never-ending ink cartridge. I have the matching set of hp- computer & printer. I am very happy with them both. D.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works for me!, June 3, 2007
I like this printer... so far this year it has worked really well for me. I have had it since May '06 when I got it for HS graduation. I have used it all year at college, and I have to say it has worked wonderfully. I thought that for an inkjet, it is amazingly conservative when it comes to ink... I have had a few other inkjets and this one seems to use the least amount of ink. I have maybe replaced the cartridges once this year, and I print a lot. I have found that I can always trust the printer... when I lived in the dorms, I would set something to print and it would be perfectly ready when I came back after talking to friends! :)

The scanner has also performed beautifully, as I do a lot of scanning and I originally thought I would have to go and buy an individual scanner because I had heard that all in one scanners aren't great. But this one has performed beautifully on over 500 scans!

The only reason it gets four and not five stars is because I wish the scanner were a little higher resolution and a bit faster.

Final word - I love this printer, I would recommend it or its successor to anyone who asks.
