A sci-fi mind trip,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lain: Knights [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This collection of the 5th-7th layers (episodes) of the outstanding Japanese series Lain is one wild ride. It's a mind-bending trip that defies reality as we know it. As we learn more about the wired, and how Lain seems have a very important - and mysterious - part to play in the convergence of real life and the wired, we are taken on a journey that makes us question our own existence. I give it two thumbs up, four stars, and a big giant "Wahoo!" (Now I just need to see the first four layers...)

This is the best anime I have ever seen. It is creepy in its own way. This shows wonderful sound, visual, plot, and characters. The english voice dub is among the best around. I highly reccomend this to any anime fan.

I have viewed all three of the Lain videos. I had to watch them several times to gain the slightest bit of understanding. If you are a Matrix fan, I think you will love this movie.

Ponderous, limited, and confusing anime ...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Lain: Knights [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This series, about a girl on the 'wired' (internet of sorts) finding intrigue and danger, is far from intriguing or dangerous. The animation is minimal and choice of shots inadequate to maximize storytelling without animation. Perhaps one of the greatest problems is the limited story carries on for far too many episodes. The coloring is too bright too often which makes the different animation levels pop out against each other in an awkward way. All the drawings are crisp and well constructed, and the designs are decently pleasing. For this price, I wouldn't recommend 'Lain'...perhaps if twice as many episodes were per DVD it would be a favorable purchase.

I just finish watching it, and I just wanted to sleep it`s too complicated, the plot twists and changes, and you get confused Lain is so booring, and plain! that she has to create another self in the wire! YAC If you like anime to be entertaining, funny............a god laugh please and I repeate please do not watch LAIN, but if you are the type of persons who likes abstract things and likes to take out a personal conclusion buy this video!
